I’m A Celeb South Africa: Helen Flanagan and Dean Gaffney are next to be eliminated

Two more celebrities left the bush on Wednesday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity South Africa.

Former Corrie actress Helen Flanagan, 32, and EastEnders icon Dean Gaffney, 45, parted ways after finishing last in the Survival Trial.

The final episode began as the final Survival Trial continued, where the stars were all locked in crates full of critters as they had to free themselves from the locks.

The latter two sadly had to leave the show in the fight to become the next I’m A Celeb Legend.

Helen said as she left, ‘I’ve had the time of my life. I just had the best time. I am so grateful. I knew I would be bad at the challenge.”

Dean added, “Hopefully I did better than last time. I’m definitely going home heavier than I arrived with all the picnics, that’s for sure! You know what I did. I haven’t laughed so much in years.’

Fans were once again sad about who left when they took to social media when the episode aired.

One of them said, ‘Helen Flanagan may be out, but she’s the real winner of I’m A Celeb South Africa. She’s come so far since her original appearance on the show, earning the title of I’m A Celebrity Legend. #ImACeleb.’

Another said: ‘All the best people have left. I’m a celebrity now, none of them are legends left there #ImACeleb.”

A third wrote, “Helen’s redemption arc was one of the few things I’m worth, I’m a celeb legend!” Also we lost dean, this ep didn’t start well #ImACeleb.”

It comes after Joe Swash was eliminated from I’m A Celebrity South Africa on Tuesday night’s episode.

The former soap star, 41, said goodbye to the bush after losing the last Survival Trial where he took on Phil Tufnell.

Going home: Helen said as she left, ‘I’ve had the time of my life. I just had the best time. I am so grateful. I knew I’d be bad at the challenge’

Scary: The final episode began as the final survival trial continued, where the stars were all trapped in crates full of critters as they had to free themselves from the floodgates

Trapped in tombs full of snakes, the pair had to crack the codes of four locks – with whoever got out first returning to camp.

But Joe was slow with his locks so he was sent home in emotional scenes when he admitted he was ready to go home and see his family he was missing.

When he left he said, ‘It’s been so long! I’m too old for his game now! I loved meeting everyone.

“I miss my kids and my wife and I can’t wait to see them. I’ve had too much on my mind and too much waiting for me at home. However, I had the time of my life!

‘It’s mixed feelings, I’ve had the most beautiful adventure and all good things must come to an end. I miss my kids, so it’s time to go.”

The Survival Trial took place between Phil and Joe as the race to the Finals began.

To decide who would compete against each other, the stars had to take stones from a bag to choose who would be exempted.

Helen got the orange stone, meaning she was exempt. She then got to choose who would be exempt with her, as the line continued until Phil and Joe had left.

Next, they had to take the Temple of Doom, where they had to get into tombs that were locked.

There were four locks they had to go through to get out, but they weren’t alone in their graves. The first to get out would be rescued while the other would go home.

They were joined by 55 huge snakes in the tomb when Joe started cursing and exclaiming how big they were.

At one point, a snake snaked its way around Phil’s neck as he tried to crack the codes on the locks.

However, he managed to unlock them the fastest by sending Joe home.

Earlier in the episode, Joe burst into tears as he revealed that he was getting hungry and tired and that he missed his wife Stacey Solomon and kids.

Joe wiped away tears and said, “It’s just overwhelming, isn’t it. The hunger, the fatigue. Being away from your family.

“I’m obviously worried about the kids. I don’t see them, I miss them, so yes. I think they’re putting me to sleep a bit now.

“It just brings it all to the surface.”

At the time of filming, Stacey was still pregnant with their youngest daughter Belle, now three months old.

The couple also shares Rose, 16 months, and Rex, two.

Joe is stepfather to Stacey’s sons Zach, 15, and Leighton, nine, from previous relationships and he has son Harry, 15, with his ex, Emma Sophocleous.

Earlier, Joe tearfully said, “I really miss my kids… I don’t know how to get rid of that feeling.”

Myleene Klass and Jordan Banjo were the first to stand up to hug their friend as he discussed how he was feeling.

He said, ‘I was a different person the first time [I did I’m A Celeb in 2008]. This time there is so much waiting for me at home.

On Monday’s show, Joe said he owes the ITV show for ‘giving him everything’.

The former soap star who won the competition in 2008 met his wife-to-be Stacey Solomon two years later when he hosted the series’ spin-off and she was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

And in emotional scenes, he told his campmate that he was the “biggest winner ever” in the series’ history after walking away with a crown and a beautiful family.

Joe said he would be known simply as “that guy from EastEnders” before joking that he’s much more proud to be “Stacey Solomon’s husband” now.
