I’m A Celeb South Africa: Fans fume over food waste as Myleene Klass is covered in corn

I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! campmates Myleene Klass and Andy Whyment went head to head in a Bushtucker trial on Thursday night’s episode.

The trial tested the celebrities’ general knowledge, covering them “up to their necks” in corn-filled containers and bugs if they got a question wrong.

It was a final win for Myleene, who earned herself a place in the main camp as friend Andy dropped back to Savannah Scrub camp.

But it was the overabundance of cereal grains during the trial that angered viewers, who were more concerned about food waste.

One fan wrote on Twitter, “Wow that corn could feed a malnourished village for months, I hope it was totally inedible and not the horrific waste it looked like!”

While another echoed, “What a waste of corn!”

As a third wrote, “I bet the people in famine-torn countries in Africa would like that maize.”

During the trial, Myleene and Alan went head-to-head as they were placed in giant vuvuzelas, before being covered up to their necks.

They were presented with a series of questions from different categories, earning a point for each question they got right.

They took turns choosing a number and answering a question ranging from questions about the planets to the names of characters in Byker Grove.

If they get it right, they earn a point and shower their opponent with critters. Get it wrong and they themselves will be showered with bugs.

It was a landslide victory for Myleene, who swept the scoreboard as she managed to earn a place in the main camp – as Alan was furious that Ant and Dec ‘weren’t fair’ when handing out points.

With her new place at camp, the former hear’Say star had to choose someone to replace her at remote camp Savannah Scrub.

Remembering how co-star Shaun Ryder missed his main camp friend Phil Tufnell, Myleene decided to choose the cricket star to switch camps.

And by calling Shaun and Phil an “iconic duo,” viewers were happy with Myleene’s decision when they saw the pair reunited back in the less-luxurious camp.

One wrote: ‘#ImACeleb bless Shaun as Phil walked into the savanna thicket they are adorable. Shaun, Phil and Andy are going to be my favorites this season.”

Viewers also witnessed a hilarious moment during the episode, in which Shaun accidentally called Andy by the name of his Coronation Street character, Kirk.

While the pair were chatting, Shaun hilariously called the Coronation Street actor by the name of his soap character Kirk.

It comes after Georgia Toff banished Shaun to Savannah Scrub during the episode’s opening.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 28, had been tasked with sending one contestant to the smaller camp after arriving as a latecomer.

But after she announced her decision after much deliberation, all viewers said the same as they did on Twitter.

Toff claimed she chose the Happy Mondays singer, 60, because he had “a really lovely nap.”

The apologetic star told Shaun as he packed his bags, “I’m so damn sorry. I’m going to make it up to you, I’m sorry.’

But Shaun replied, “I’m made up,” much to her surprise.

She said in the bush telegraph: “Shaun seemed to be okay with it. We haven’t had a conversation before, so I don’t know if he wasn’t bothered or actually furious…probably the latter.’

The Step On hitmaker told the camera, “That’s exactly what it is. Someone had to go and that’s me.’

Fans of the show joked that they weren’t surprised by Conservative Party member Toff’s decision due to her political alliances.

One of them wrote, “#imaceleb Toff choosing Shaun is the start of the class war.”

Another said, “Toff’s picking of Shaun Ryder is the most Tory thing ever. Picking the guy with the bad hip and health issues to put him in worse circumstances. At least she is consistent with her party #ImACelebSouthAfrica #ImACeleb.”

A third wrote, “Toff sending Shaun to camp is Tory behavior.”

Another joked, “Toff sends the man with a cane to a base camp where he has to sleep on the ground. Yeah, sounds like a typical Tory. #ImACeleb.’
