A heart surgeon has revealed the exact meal he eats for dinner every day to keep his heart healthy – and the fruit that can ‘heal’ your gut.
Dr. Steven Gundry is a cardiologist who has focused throughout his career on the impact of a person’s diet on their health.
He recently explained what the “ideal” plate should look like for everyone.
Dr. Gundry’s plate consists primarily of leafy and cruciferous vegetables, resistant starch, meat, chopped avocado, with olive oil drizzled over the entire meal.
“Who has been eating poorly all this time?” » he asked his 125,000 subscribers.
“My ideal meal is mostly vegetables,” he said.
In terms of specific foods, Dr. Gundry recommended that broccoli, arugula, bok choy, and other similar items fill at least half the plate.
He said the other half should be sweet potato or millet, then some meat.
“You should always chop a little avocado, then drizzle the whole plate with olive oil to finish,” he added.
Dr Gundry also revealed that his favorite fruit is passion fruit.
“I grow it myself and it’s so healthy,” he said.
“The inside of the fruit contains seeds that contain a lot of gelatinous material full of prebiotics.”
He explained that prebiotics are a type of fiber that good gut bugs like to eat.
