Ilkay Gundogan says Man City are ‘built to handle pressure’ after Champions League win
Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan says his side are ‘built to handle pressure’ after their Champions League final victory netted a famous treble
Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan revealed how his teammates coped with their Treble pressure once he scored the winning goals in last weekend’s FA Cup final.
The German midfielder, who played in perhaps his last game for City last night, was his side’s two-goal game winner against Manchester United, at Wembley.
This time he got to raise an even bigger trophy, saying: ‘We knew everyone was talking about the Treble, especially after the FA Cup. The pressure was there, but this team is built to handle the pressure as best it can.
“It’s an incredible night. I am so happy. It is difficult to put everything into words, to describe what happened and what we achieved, but today we made history.
“It will always be difficult for both teams in the Champions League final. We weren’t at our best in the first half. We were doubting. We had some good chances but knew we had to do better in the second half, which we did.
It was probably a 50-50 game where one goal made the difference. We’re very lucky it was for us.’
