IKEA urgently recalls ASKSTORM 40W USB charger: ‘Stop using immediately’

IKEA has issued an emergency recall for the USB charger amid concerns it could cause serious injury or death.

The ASKSTORM 40W USB charger in dark gray color has been recalled due to concerns that the power cable could become damaged and expose live parts of the cable.

Products with model number ICPSW5-40-1 and item number 304.611.94 are included in the recall.

The affected chargers were sold between April 1, 2020 and December 5, 2023.

The ASKSTORM 40W USB charger in dark gray color has been recalled due to concerns that the power cable could become damaged and expose live parts of the cable

“There is a risk of burns or death from electric shock if a user touches a damaged, live cable,” Product Safety Australia said in the recall.

‘There is also a risk of material damage if the charger catches fire.’

Some customers have suffered burns or electric shock from the exposed cables.

Customers are urged to immediately stop using the product and return it to IKEA for a full refund.
