Igon questline walkthrough and steps in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Igon is an NPC in Elden Ring‘S Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was initially located in the eastern part of Gravesite Plain and in the Jagged Peak mountain. Igon’s quest takes you to the top of Jagged Peak, where you battle one of the two Shadow of the Erdtree‘s toughest bosses, the dragon Bayle the Dread.

Additionally, completing Igon’s quest requires multiple dragons and dragons. You must also purchase the item Thiollier’s brew from the NPC Thiollier to receive certain optional rewards from another NPC, Priestess of the Dragon Communion.

In this Elden Ring guide, we’ll show you every step of Igon’s quest, including whether or not to use Thiollier’s Concoction when you meet the Dragon Communion Priestess at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion.


Igon questline steps in Elden Ring DLC

Here is a list of all the steps you need to complete to complete Igon’s quest.

  1. From the Castle Front Site of Grace in Gravesite Plain, head southwest along the road
  2. Talk to Igon next to the Pillar Path Waypoint Site of Grace in the east of Gravesite Plain
  3. Follow the road southwest, where you will be attacked by the Ancient Dragon-Man
  4. Defeat Ancient Dragon-Man and continue south to the Dragon’s Pit dungeon
  5. Complete the Dragon’s Pit dungeon to gain access to the Jagged Peak region
  6. Defeat the Jagged Peak Drake
  7. From the Jagged Peak Drake boss arena, head south to reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion
  8. Talk to the Dragon Communion Priestess and accept the draconic essence
  9. Here you can choose to give Thiollier’s brew to the Dragon Communion Priestess at night to obtain her Spirit Ash at the end of Igon’s quest; or continue without giving Thiollier’s brew to the Dragon Communion Priestess to obtain her Flowerstone Gavel and the Priestess Heart at the end of Igon’s quest
  10. From the Jagged Peak Drake boss arena, head northeast up the mountain
  11. Defeat the double Jagged Peak Drakes
  12. Talk to Igon nearby to obtain Igon’s Furled Finger
  13. Head east up the mountain to reach Ancient Dragon Senessax
  14. Defeat the ancient dragon Sennesax
  15. Continue up the mountain to reach Jagged Peak Mountainside
  16. Defeat Bayle the Dread and summon Drake Warrior Igon from the boss arena
  17. Return to Igon to get his things
  18. Return to Dragon Communion Priestess to get her items

Where can you find Igon in Gravesite Plain

Igon can be found resting (and screaming loudly in pain) just west of the Pillar path waypoint Place of grace in the east of Gravesite Plain. Talk to him and you’ll learn about his hatred of Bayle the Dread. Finish Igon’s dialogue and continue south.

Shortly after you encounter Igon, you will be attacked by the Old dragon man spirit. Defeat the invader and continue south until you reach the Dragon’s Pit dungeon.


How to complete the Dragon’s Pit dungeon

After entering the dungeon, you will discover a new place of mercy: the Dragon’s Pit. This dungeon cave is filled with Skeletal Beastman who will ambush you and revive you after you’re knocked down. Dragon’s Pit is also home to a Magma Wyrm that will drop a Dragon Heart and Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone if defeated.

To escape the Dragon’s Pit, you’ll need to take a leap of faith into a huge open pit in front of a candlelit altar. Jumping into the pit is safe and leads you to a dungeon boss battle against the physical form of Ancient Dragon-Man.

After defeating the Ancient Dragon-Man, you will be rewarded with the The Great Katana of Dragon Hunter weapon. You’ll be presented with a teleporter that takes you back to the Dragon’s Pit entrance and a series of doors you’ll need to walk through to access the Foot of the Jagged Peak region and the Dragon’s Pit Terminus Site of Grace.


Defeat the Jagged Peak Drake

The first of many dragon battles takes place shortly after reaching the base of Jagged Peak.

The Jagged Peak Drake boss fight is optional, but it will reward you with a Dragon Heart, a Dragonscale Flesh, and a host of runes. Plus, it’s good practice for all the other dragon battles you’ll have.


Find the Great Altar of Dragon Communion and speak to Dragon Communion Priestess

South of Jagged Peak Drake’s boss arena lies another place of mercy, the Great altar of the dragon communionand his companion, the Priestess of the Dragon Communion. Talk to the priestess and she will offer you a choice: “Devour Draconic Essence” or “Do not participate.” Choose to devour the draconic essence and the priestess will reward you with a new consumable item, the The blessing of the ancient dragon.

The Ancient Dragon’s Blessing consumes a small amount of FP to increase all forms of damage denial. The Ancient Dragon’s Blessing is a single-use item, but the Dragon Communion Priestess will give you a replacement upon request. Don’t be shy about using or replenishing the blessing.

If you visit the Dragon Communion Priestess at night, you can give her Thiollier’s Concoction to put her to sleep, which is the only way to eventually unlock her Spirit Ash summon.


Defeat the Jagged Peak Drake duo and find Igon

After speaking with the Dragon Communion Priestess, head back north to the Jagged Peak Drake arena, then northeast, up the mountain and over a bridge to reach the Foot of the Jagged Peak location. Continue up the mountain until you come across some dragons fighting each other.

Just wait at the edge of the battle until one of the drakes dies and the other is sufficiently injured by the dead drake. Defeat the remaining drake to receive a Dragon Heart, a Dragon Shell Meat, and a large number of runes.

After the battle, you’ll see Igon again just east of the Drake Duo Boss Arena. Talk to him and he will give you Igon’s curled finger, an item that allows you to summon Igon during the battle against Bayle the Dread. You don’t need to equip Igon’s Furled Finger; if you simply have it in your inventory, it becomes Drake Warrior Igon call sign appear in the Bayle fight.


Defeat the ancient dragon Senessax

After speaking with Igon, continue east and even further up Jagged Peak mountain, tapping into spiritual resources and avoiding an environmental hazard: giant rolling boulders.

Eventually you will come across Ancient dragon Senessax during your drive to Jagged Peak mountain. This fire-breathing and lightning-guiding ancient dragon will feel familiar if you’ve seen Lichdragon Fortissax and Ancient Dragon Lansseax before. Stay on Torrent as long as you can in the battle against Ancient Dragon Senessax and use the steed’s quick movements to get behind the dragon and double jump over its ground lightning attacks.

Defeating Ancient Dragon Senessax will reward you with an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and a Gloomy Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.


Take on Bayle the Dread

After the Ancient Dragon Senessax battle, continue to Jagged Peak and ride three more spiritual springs to reach the top. You’ll find another place of grace, Jagged Peak Summit, which is just outside the Bayle the Dread boss arena.

If you want to summon Drake Warrior Igon, you must do so from the arena itself, after passing through the wall of mist. Drake Warrior Igon’s gold summon sign is immediately to the left as you enter Bayle’s arena.

You’ll probably need all the help you can get as you take on Bayle the Dread, a boss battle that will test your skills and patience. Elden Ring‘s camera. Since Bayle uses a lot of fire-based attacks, make sure you have the best fire protection. You should also use your Ancient Dragon’s Blessing to reduce your damage intake, and use any weapons that cause frost or red rot to reduce Bayle’s health. Defeating Bayle will reward you with the Heart of Bayle item, a new type of Dragon Heart.


Igon’s quest is rewarded

Once Bayle the Dread has been defeated and Igon has received his justice, return to the Foot of the Jagged Peak place of mercy to find Igon’s corpse where you last spoke to him. He dropped the following items:

  • Igon’s Great Arch
  • Igon’s Helmet
  • Igon’s armor
  • Igon’s gloves
  • Igon’s loincloth
  • Igon’s clock bearing

Return to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, the place of grace. The Dragon Communion Priestess will have moved on, but she will have left some items behind.

  • If you gave her Thiollier’s brew… Ancient dragon Florissax Spirit Ash will be your reward, if you can summon her as a spirit into battle.
  • If you didn’t give her Thiollier’s Concoction, you’ll get it Flower stone hammer hammer weapon and the Priestess Heart consumable. Using the Priestess Heart allows you to take the form of a dragon and strengthens your Dragon Cult spells.

Finally, you can redeem the Heart of Bayle at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion to unlock one of two enchantments:

  • Bayle’s flame lightningwho “channels the form of the dread dragon in the right arm to crush enemies with an exposed claw bone that rushes with flame lightning”
  • Bayle’s tyrannywhich “channels the form of the dreaded dragon to emit a mighty roar, accompanied by a heat wave burst, causing violent bursts of fire in the area”
