Windows 11 just received a new update and there’s good news for those experiencing strange and buggy behavior with their taskbar.
Namely that the frustrating taskbar bug – where it can disappear before reappearing – has now been fixed with the June 2024 cumulative update, as Microsoft makes clear in the support document regarding the upgrade.
Microsoft notes: “This update resolves a known issue affecting the taskbar. It may cause a brief glitch or not respond. It can also disappear and reappear.”
To rewind a bit, this glitchy behavior was actually introduced by the optional update that Microsoft ushered in at the end of May 2024 (and we’ve seen a similar issue recently as well).
When the issue became known, Microsoft acted quickly and rolled back devices with this May preview update installed. This was implemented via a ‘Known Issue Rollback’, meaning Windows 11 users did not need to take any action when installing a new patch – the fix was rolled in automatically (as New spotted).
So those who were worried about the carryover of this bug to the June update – after all, the optional May update is the June cumulative update, but during testing there is no need to worry. The problem is now completely resolved (or so Microsoft says).

What else is present in the new June update for Windows 11? It also brings the long-awaited drag-and-drop functionality for File Explorer’s address bar, changes to Account Management in the Start Menu, a revamped Linked Devices page in the Settings app, built-in QR code generation for links, and plenty of security features. -related adjustments.
