IF starring Ryan Reynolds lands at the top of a lackluster box office with less-than-expected $35M in ticket sales

John Krasinski’s IF landed number one at the box office this weekend, raking in an estimated $35 million dollars in ticket sales.

In the live action animated comedy, Ryan Reynolds plays a man who teams up with a young girl, played by Cailey Fleming, 17, who discovers she can see other people’s imaginary friends.

Together, she and Reynolds’ Cal work to find new children for imaginary friends or “IFs” left behind as their children grew up.

Critics and audiences responded very differently to the family-friendly film.
