Kohberger is pictured grinning as he holds a copy of Atwood’s 1985 bestseller surrounded by a roomful of enthusiastic attendees at his alma mater at the April 2018 event.

DailyMail.com confirmed the authenticity of the photo.

Kohberger graduated from college in 2018 before moving to the western US.

More than four years after the criminology student was accused of the brutal stabbing, the image resurfaced deaths of University of Idaho students Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20. The 2018 lecture was open to students, staff and faculty and was held at the Bethlehem campus of Northampton Community College in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania in Northampton County.

A spokesperson for the university told DailyMail.com that they “could not confirm his presence at the event, although a photo with Kohberger was featured in the summer 2018 issue of the university’s NCC Magazine.” However, the author’s talk was followed by a 90-minute question-and-answer session

It is unclear why Kohberger was present or whether he questioned the author.

Police finally arrested Kohberger during a raid on his parents’ home in Poconos Mountains, Pennsylvania on December 30 and he was flown back to Idaho on January 4 in a small Pilatus PC-12 turboprop plane.

A motive for the killings has not yet been revealed, but those who knew Kohberger reportedly described him as someone who appeared to discriminate against women.

In his early years, he was reportedly bullied by some of his female classmates. He was overweight and had a heroin addiction, but eventually slimed down to the point where he became obsessed with his vegan lifestyle.

John Kelly, a criminal profiler and psychoanalyst who has interviewed countless serial killers, recounted fox digital that he was looking at the photo of the 2018 lecture and that Kohberger “didn’t come here for the author.”

“He came here for the public,” he said.

Kelly noted that in the photo, Kohberger was mostly surrounded by women and there were only a few men in the crowd.

“In other words, he’s an incel, he doesn’t like women, but how come he has to be in a distant relationship anyway?” he said.

“I absolutely believe this man was always watching.”
