Iconic noughties indie band is set to release a ‘nostalgic’ seventh studio album as they prepare to make a huge comeback in 2025
An iconic band from the 1990s is kicking off 2025 by making a huge comeback in January, releasing a new album, their seventh.
The Kooks, who rose to fame in 2006 with their hits Naive, Ooh La and You Don’t Love Me, will also perform a number of live dates across the UK.
The band, consisting of singer Luke Pritchard, guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Alexis Nunez, has reportedly gone back to their old sound and ‘nailed’ it for the new songs.
A source said The sun: ‘The Kooks are back and their new album is electric. They have returned to their breakthrough sound and have released a number of nailed hits.
“When they went into the studio they had no expectations and just had fun.
‘But they released a brilliant album. Some songs are really reminiscent of the songs from their early albums. And they can’t wait for their fans to hear them.”

The Kooks are an English pop-rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton.
Just three months after forming, the Kooks signed with Virgin Records and broke into the musical mainstream with their debut album Inside In/Inside Out.
They came to mainstream media attention when they won Best UK & Ireland Act at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and received a nomination at the Brit Awards for the single She Moves in Her Own Way.
The Kooks’ last record, 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark, was released in 2022 and toured with a number of major festivals.

Last year, The Kooks responded to a viral TikTok cover of their biggest hit in the best way possible.
The indie band edited itself into a clip in which musician Calum Bowie performed the song.
Calum, who had 423,000 followers on TikTok, is known for singing songs with his guitar from his window in Edinburgh.
The original video saw Calum receiving a crumpled £20 from a passerby on the street below who was impressed by his version of the song.
He told the audience that he wasn’t really busking and that they didn’t have to give him anything, but when the fan wouldn’t take no for an answer, he continued to sing and smile.
The Kooks came across the fan’s video and decided to get in on the action by editing themselves into the clip.
The band, looking unrecognizable, managed to make it seem like they were the ones trying to give Calum the money from the street below.
Calum was shocked to see The Kooks screwing his video and said: ‘No way. This is absolute gold.’
Fans were thrilled to see the hilarious video on social media, writing: “This is amazing!”
‘This has to be the best stitch ever made; This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen; I actually love you so much, one of my favorite bands ever; Those boys are so cute.”
