Iconic 70s sitcom star is seen on a rare outing after stepping back from the spotlight… can you guess who?

An actress known for her appearance on an iconic ABC sitcom that began in the late 1970s was spotted on a rare outing in Los Angeles this past weekend.

The star previously worked with a late comedic actor on the show, which aired for a total of four seasons.

After her appearance on the ABC series, she had a role in another sitcom that premiered on CBS in the 1980s.

The actress is also married to a fellow actor who starred in a popular military police procedural drama for a total of 18 years.

Her last credited role was three years earlier in 2021, and she has since taken a step away from the big screen.

It’s Pam Dawber, 73 – who is known for playing the character Mindy McConnell on the ABC sitcom Mork & Mindy, alongside comedian Robin Williams.

The show aired on the network for a total of four seasons from 1978 to 1982 – and also starred Conrad Janis, Ralph James, Elizabeth Kerr and Tom Poston.

Mork & Mindy was a spin-off of an episode of Happy Days titled My Favorite Orkan.

After the first season, the sitcom received two Emmy nominations: Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Williams.

During her rare excursion, Dawber was stylish and casual as she took a relaxing stroll in a quiet neighborhood.

She wore a gray sweatshirt with the word “Hudson” printed in white letters on the front.

During an earlier interview with ABC in 2020, she recalled first hearing about Mork & Mindy, admitting, “I hadn’t auditioned and I didn’t know anything.”

‘When I first read the script, I thought the premise was just the stupidest thing. I remember saying, “And who the hell is Robin Williams?”

However, Pam added, “As soon as I met him I said, ‘Oh, he’s so cute. And he’s so strange and so funny and boy, oh boy, am I lucky!’ And so it went on.’

Before his shock passed in August 2014 due to suicide, Dawber had opened up about the Good Will Hunting actor during an interview. AV club earlier that same year.

“I don’t know what it is about the two of us, but I just loved him on a very deep level. Robin is truly one of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met.”

She added that he was “never one of those comedians who was competitive and had to have all the funny lines.”

‘For him it was always playing time. He’s just very generous. He won’t try to take someone else’s line if he feels more comfortable doing so. He’s never been that kind of person.’

Dawber later appeared in another sitcom, My Sister Sam, which aired on CBS from 1986 to 1988.

She co-starred with Rebecca Schaeffer – who was shot and killed in her West Hollywood home in July 1989 by an obsessed fan, Robert John Bardo. She was only 21 years old.

Pam’s last credited role, according to her IMDB page, was when she made a guest appearance on episodes of NCIS for the show’s 18th and 19th seasons.

The actress appeared alongside her husband, Mark Harmon, who most notably played the lead role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs from 2003 to 2021.

Dawber played the character of journalist Marcie Warren, having previously turned down the opportunity to play a role in the series in the past.

However, when she got the script for the character Marcie, she told it Entertainment weekly in 2021: ‘The character is so good.’

‘I just fell in love with what they wrote. And then I had this fear of, ‘Oh my God, am I going to do this?’

She also shared that she didn’t want her and her husband’s characters to develop a romance during her time on the show.

Pam’s last mentioned role, according to her IMDB page, was when she made a guest appearance on episodes of NCIS for the show’s 18th and 19th seasons.

“I talked to the writers and producers before I signed on and said, ‘If this is a romantic interest, I’m not interested.’ They didn’t say at all, that’s not where we want to go with this.’

Pam and Mark tied the knot in 1987 and celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary earlier this year in March.

The couple also share sons Sean, 36, and Ty, 32 – who both worked in the entertainment industry to follow in their parents’ footsteps.

Sean is an actor who has also appeared in NCIS, Hold On (2019) and The Fits (2015). Notably, Ty is a screenwriter.

Last year, in November, Mark recalled his first date with Pam during an interview with People and said a mutual friend had tried to frame them.

“I said, ‘Can I just call? Can I get a number and just cold call?’ And so I did. I got the number, called and got an answering machine.”

The actor added, “And I started leaving a message saying, ‘We don’t all have to go out. We can get a cup of coffee or something.’ And then she supervised and recorded. We went out that night and we’ve been together ever since.’

Regarding the secret of their long-term relationship, Harmon told the outlet, “I don’t have a secret.”

‘We laugh. You have to laugh, and you have to talk and communicate. That’s the nice thing about it. Should we sit down and talk about it? No.’

“Maybe you’ll just get lucky and find the right one. We share many things and yet we are truly different,” he added.
