Ian Wright and Ange Postecoglou have criticized the decision to disallow Romelu Lukaku’s goal against Romania as offside.
Lukaku thought he had doubled Belgium’s lead on Saturday night before semi-automatic technology sidelined him in a hair-splitting decision.
While Belgium won 2-0, the forward has already canceled out three goals at the 2024 Euros, after two were wiped out in the 1-0 defeat to Slovakia.
“As a striker I will never be able to accept that kind of offside, especially when attackers are trying to bend the points and we are talking about an advantage,” Wright told ITV Sport.
‘I cannot understand that if a defender and an attacker are looking in the same direction, and you are talking about millimeters, the attacker has an advantage there.

Ange Postecoglou fears that football will be ‘turned into forensic investigation’ due to the strict rulings
Romelu Lukaku has now ruled out three goals at Euro 2024, with Belgium losing by three points following two against Slovakia
“To me… people say it’s offside. I cannot accept that as offside.’
Youri Tielemans had given Belgium an emphatic lead after 73 seconds and Kevin De Bruyne rounded off the evening with a late goal to put Belgium top of Group E.
While Domenico Tedesco’s team has at least briefly rediscovered their mojo, the offside action against Lukaku caused heated discussions.
Postecoglou said, “Don’t get me started on it! My frustration is that we have now turned football into forensics, by millimeters.
‘I think if that goal had been without offside technology, no one would have said anything.
‘When is contact made with the ball? We’ve seen the end product of that [but not when the pass was played].
‘It has fundamentally changed the game. I’m not a fan, but it’s there and it’s being used. The only positive thing I see is that they are doing it quickly.’
