In a few hours Star Wars Jedi: Survivorprotagonist Cal Kestis explores the planet Koboh in search of his old friend Greez (the four-armed alien pilot from Fallen order). But before Cal finds Greez, a frog-like alien is literally thrown in his path by a group of angry robbers. That poor little alien is Turgle, and I love him. Just like the rest of the internet.
[Ed. note: This article contains minor spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.]
Turgle rhymes with “turtle,” but again, he’s a frog. There’s not much innovation in character design here, and I should clarify: that’s not a complaint. Turgle is a frog that stands about 3 feet tall and walks on two legs, like a slightly larger version of Aogaeru’s Spiritually gone. He is an invaluable addition to the Star Wars canon and I will protect him at all costs.
Turgle doesn’t make it easy to protect him, mind you. He’s a bit of a con artist and a troublemaker, which is why the robbers came after him in the first place. Turgle had sold them a “priceless relic” which turned out to be “fake” (although Turgle insists he had no idea). With his high-pitched voice and defensive tone, he may seem a little annoying to some people. Despite all that, Cal still steps in to save the little frog from certain death at the hands of the angry robbers.
From the moment Turgle jumps joyfully out of danger and watches from the sidelines as Cal Kestis delivers a lightsaber-assisted beatdown, he earns a permanent place in my heart. Is he more trouble than he’s worth? Absolutely, because he learns nothing from this experience and continues to engage in deception and scams. But look at him! Look at him!!
I’m not the only one who has become obsessed with this little goofball. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have players videos shared and fan art of their favorite frog:
This fan of Turgle, who also made some art, called him Star Wars’ latest “Glup Shitto” – and several other fans agreed.

While not everyone loves Turgle, the people who do love him are… Real love him.
If Turgle has a million fans, then I’m one of them. If Turgle has ten fans, I’m one of them. If turgle only has one fan, it’s me. If Turgle has no fans, that means I’m not on Earth anymore. If the world is against turgle, then I am against the world.

The Turgle fanaticism has reached Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s creators, such as head writer Danny Homan, who cast the character’s voice actor, Richard Horvitz (known for voicing Zim in Intruder Zim and Raz in the Psychonauts games).
Pete Stewart, a senior writer on the game the addition of Turgle to the Star Wars fanwiki Wookieepedia as a personal highlight.
