I was stuck in a Vietnamese cable car 6,000ft up for THREE HOURS
An intrepid traveler has shared the horrifying moment when he got stuck at an altitude of 6,000 feet in one of the world’s highest ziplines for three hours.
Haris, an Australian who goes by the name “fully.fledged” on social media, shared the debacle on TikTok when he and a dozen other passengers became trapped in the air in Vietnam.
Dangling above the sea, the adventurer – much more relaxed about the situation compared to the others around him – seemed stuck in the Mount Fansipan cable car on the highest peak of the Indochinese peninsula.
Usually the cable car offers a leisurely 15 minute ride over the breathtaking valleys below and the surrounding peaks at some 1900 meters above sea level.
But Haris and the fellow passengers got more than they bargained for, as they apparently spent nearly three hours in the air after the cable car’s apparent malfunction.

“We are in the highest cable car in the world and are now stuck. We’re stuck,” Haris told the camera as he filmed the incident for TikTok. While the Mount Fansipan cable car is more than 6,000 feet in the air, it is not thought to be the highest, with one cable car on the headwaters of Aigulle du Midi in Charmonix, France, rising at about 12,600 feet (3.8 km) stands. above sea level.
While Haris captured the breathtaking surroundings, a little less panicked than his fellow passengers, others can be heard explaining the incident to each other.
‘We have to wait. We’ll just wait,’ you hear a woman say to another passenger.
‘For how long?’, you hear the passenger react alarmed.
Meanwhile, still not very concerned about the incident and jovial, Haris asked a woman sitting next to him, “Should we panic?” Are you panicking?’
“Yes,” she replies sharply.
A Vietnamese speaking voice can be heard over a tannoy presumably explaining the incident to those on board as they sit amongst the clouds. Alarmed chunters immediately respond to the tannoy while Haris remained relaxed.
Again, without being too concerned about the predicament, Haris jokes to his fellow passengers, “It’s a good way to go, don’t you think?”
‘No, no,’ a large number of voices yell back, seeming a little less amused by his relaxed disposition.
“No more dark jokes, okay?” says a man.

But Haris finds comfort in another passenger named Ralph, who agrees with him on the humor of the situation.
‘Do we have food? We need to review and ration our survival plan,” Haris jokes again.
Picturesque mountains and a cloud-filled blue sky surround the dangling, stationary funicular. “Well, this isn’t a bad place to die,” concludes the Australian, looking out.
In another part of the clip, Haris says, “Uh, I think I’ve found the group I’d never want to be stuck with in a zipline.”
Apparently they’re keeping the atmosphere light and the other passengers are laughing when another voice is heard saying, ‘Too late. Too late.’
Haris says to the camera, “We have other people here who are panicking. It gets quite warm. I tried to help them by opening the windows and they scolded me before chuckling.
Suddenly the cable car very slowly starts moving again and there is a cheer.
“The mood has definitely improved and pansies aren’t pansies anymore,” says Haris.
In a clip of the clip, Haris says, “Uh, I think I’ve found the group I’d never want to be stuck with in a zipline”
“After two and a half hours of interacting with these people, we are about to have our country ahoy moment.”
Cheers ring out as the green land below them comes into view through the fog.
Back at the station, Haris jokes with the valet who is getting ready to release them: ‘Open the damn door man. Open it. Thank you thank you. Goddamnit.’
The attendants at the cable car station apologize for the incident, but Haris is clearly still relaxed and says it’s okay despite the nearly three-hour venture in the air.
