A teenage TikTok user has hit back at cruel commenters who mocked her after she made a video proudly showing off a new bag that she described as a “luxury” item.
Zoe Gabriel, 17, who lives in Singapore, shared a clip on the platform showing her £85 Charles & Keith bag.

Beneath the clip, which had the words “my first luxury bag” on screen at the beginning, the 17-year-old wrote “thank you dad,” in a thank you message to her father who bought the bag from the fashion label. Singapore.

His video went viral, garnering more than 6 million views and more than 2 million likes.
It also drew some 40,000 comments, some from viewers congratulating the purchase and some cruel comments mocking the 17-year-old for describing the bag as “luxury.”
The black double-handle tote is £85 on the brand’s website in the UK and $60 in Singapore.
For some commenters, the price did not equate to a luxury purchase and they made their feelings clear below the video.
In a tearful response video, the 17-year-old addressed the cruel comments, explaining that the item was a great purchase for her and her family.

One viewer simply wrote ‘who’s gonna tell her’, suggesting that Zoe didn’t know the bag isn’t a luxury purchase, and someone should tell her this.
Taking up this comment, the teenager made a new and tearful videoexplaining that the purchase was a luxury for her and her family, who did not have much money.
In it, she revealed that money is the subject she feels most uncomfortable talking about, because she didn’t have much growing up and her family couldn’t afford expensive items.
She added: ‘We couldn’t buy things as simple as bread [Singaporean bakery] Bread talk. That kind of thing was a luxury when we first moved to Singapore.
‘Every time we passed a store, my parents would say next time, but next time would never come.
‘Your comment says a lot about how ignorant you seem due to your wealth. For you, an $80 bag may not be a luxury.
Many commenters took to the video to reassure the 17-year-old and tell her to ignore mean comments from others.
‘For me and my family, it’s a lot, and I’m so thankful my dad was able to get me one. He worked very hard for that money. I can’t believe he hated me on a bag he was so excited to have.
Viewers left supportive comments on the video, which garnered some 6 million views and 17,000 responses.
One wrote: ‘Don’t bother with those comments. To me, at your age, having an $80 bag is considered a luxury.
Another added: ‘Don’t let anyone ruin your happiness. Your bag looks classic and beautiful! And I’m very proud of you.
And a third agreed, writing: ‘Please don’t cry… I know how expensive it is to live in Singapore. I bought $60 charles and keith too in singapore and it’s still my favorite bag today.’
