As more and more strangers walk down the aisle and take vows on the latest series of Married At First Sight UK, one contestant has lifted the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes.
The latest series has proven to be just as explosive as last year’s so far, with three new couples set to join the experiment and ruffle feathers in the coming days.
While some couples may be looking stronger than ever and others may have called it quits, Georges Berthonneau has revealed the truth behind the show.
The online fitness coach, who was married to Peggy Laurence in last year’s series, has revealed the dinner parties are fake and E4 bosses are keeping a close eye on their alcohol consumption.
The surprising claims come after some couples were pushed to the limit at the latest dinner party after the honesty box raised some tough questions.

The online fitness coach, who was married to blonde beauty Peggy Lawrence in last year’s series, has revealed the dinner parties are fake
Georges and Peggy got married in the last series of the show, but split in January and have since exchanged barbs on social media
In a new interview with The sunGeorges explained that the glitzy dinners often start at 11 a.m. and can continue all day long.
The former contestant revealed that the producers encourage them to start drinking during the day, but tightly control how much they drink so that no one gets too drunk.
Georges explained that the dinner parties are often a pressure cooker and that bosses want things to get out of hand, but not fall into total chaos, resulting in their alcohol consumption being limited.
Georges also explained his outrage at the fact that instead of champagne, the stars are all getting Prosecco, labeling the move as just a symptom of the show’s ‘smoke-and-mirrors’ approach.
Peggy’s former husband added, “They used to have a counting chart, so we had our pictures, you know the cast sheet, and everyone had a line by their name and if one person gets a little too drunk, they start the reduce alcohol on the table.’
But he admitted that some people are careful about how much they drink because the cast has to be ready to continue filming at 6am the next morning.
Georges also labeled the dinners as a facade.
He said: ‘It’s all a facade. It’s all smoke and mirrors. There’s no truth in it.’
In a new interview with The Sun, Georges explained that the glitzy dinner parties often start at 11am and can go on all day and that the alcohol often leads to arguments (pictured with Peggy after the show)
The fitness coach revealed that some participants played a game that made Georges feel uncomfortable and often led to arguments between himself and his ex-wife
The fitness coach revealed that some contestants play a game which adds to the feeling that the show is fake, and Georges revealed that he felt like some couples were ‘two-faced’.
He explained that the most at odds couples often tried to steal the spotlight as a way to distract from their marital problems.
The star added that the spouses would take two approaches: diffuse their tense situations off-camera and present a united front or air their grievances around the dinner table.
The former MAFS groom went on to say that he often wondered what the couples had to hide and felt that not everyone was being honest.
He added that the way the show is edited contributes to the fake nature of the show and called the reality series a ‘pantomime’.
Georges claimed that each episode is heavily edited to create a storyline across the entire series and characters are manipulated to create a more entertaining character arc.
In the exclusive interview with the publication, he described the producers as “magicians and wizards when it comes to editing footage.”
In the current series, Caspar Todd is criticized for ‘body shaming’ his new wife Emma Barnes.

He shocked fans by labeling the blonde bombshell as too curvy for him and revealing that he doesn’t find her sexy and “usually doesn’t go for curvy women.”
But Georges believes that producers play with viewers and edit footage to advance a storyline and character arc, in much the same way they did with Georges.
The fitness coach’s time on the show was a rollercoaster and changed dramatically throughout the series.
He started the show as a comedic jester and many viewers found him immature, just like his new wife Peggy.
His comments about cosmetic surgery and sex initially put the bride off, but she came around after he revealed his more sensitive side.
Of the editing process he said: ‘It’s a pantomime, we already know the ending.
“I think if you just looked at my wedding day, you’d think this guy doesn’t make it past the second week.

“But then you watch episode two of me and my honeymoon, and suddenly everyone’s like, ‘Oh, this guy’s actually not that bad.’
Georges candidly revealed that the montage had an impact on his life as it encouraged viewers to form negative opinions about him.
He added that people were taking to social media and being harsh. Although it initially affected his mental health, he learned to move past it and decided to ignore the negative reactions.
The online fitness coach was married to blonde beauty Peggy in last year’s series, but the couple split early this year.
Georges then branded his ex-wife Peggy a ‘calculated manipulator’ after she blindsided him with a split announcement on Valentine’s Day.
The 30-year-old E4 contestant told MailOnline at the time that the couple, who mutually decided to split in January, agreed to issue a joint statement informing fans they had ended their relationship.
But he claims Peggy, 33, without his prior knowledge, told her off after she was single in an attempt that Georges claims was deliberately made to hurt him, even after he sent a bouquet of roses, balloons and a card to his ex to let you know that he still cares about Valentine’s Day.
