I was addicted to my vape – these are my five simple steps to giving it up
- A TikTok user posted a video detailing the five most important steps to quit vaping
A woman who said she was able to quit vaping despite being heavily dependent on the habit has shared the five steps that helped her give up.
@cassidychristine_ posted a video on TikTok saying she was “addicted” and even had trouble staying asleep all night without using her vape.
Cassidy said she would use the device at virtually any time of day, from the moment she woke up to other times, such as when she went shopping.
She revealed her first tip for people trying to quit vaping: “You need to throw it away… throw the vape in the trash right now, go do it.”
Addressing possible withdrawal symptoms that some users may experience, she continued, “Understand that you will be angry for weeks and you may even get sick.”

In the video posted to her account, Cassidy admitted that quitting the habit was “the best thing (she) ever did for (herself).”
Her second tip involved the hand motion of constantly reaching for a disposable vape and how to combat its absence.
Cassidy said anyone looking to quit vaping should replace it with “chewing gum, candy… whatever you need to get through it, for at least a month and a half.”
In her next tip, she urged users to reward themselves for any progress they make toward quitting, possibly as often as every day, so they don’t feel the need to start vaping again.
Cassidy’s penultimate tip encouraged individuals to track the progress they’ve made when attempting to quit, as she said: “Write down (your progress) if you need to, note the start date and just track your progress.”
Her fifth and final tip was also about possible withdrawal symptoms, which she addressed by saying, “Give yourself space (to withdraw). Give yourself space and grace, because it’s not pretty.’
She closed the video by admitting that quitting the habit was “the best thing (she) ever did for (herself).”
In the video – which has been viewed more than six million times on TikTok – users agreed that vaping was extremely difficult to quit, but that some had managed to do so successfully.
One user commented: ‘Two weeks later I honestly haven’t had a worse flu in YEARS. It’s so hard, but it’s so worth it!!!!’
A second added: ‘Quit alcohol, vaping and cigarettes all at once. Vaping was the hardest thing of all.”
Another wrote: ‘2 years without vaping’.
A massive increase in the number of children and teenagers taking up vaping could lead the government to restrict vape flavors, regulate their packaging and change point-of-sale displays, and even ban the devices entirely. Pictured: File image of a woman vaping
It comes as disposable vapes could be banned in Britainamid fear, they risk tying a new generation of young people to nicotine.
The proposals to ban disposable vapes in Britain are partly on environmental grounds, with around 844 million vape devices dumped worldwide every year – the same weight as six Eiffel Towers.
In addition to environmental concerns, the proposed ban on vaping could come into effect due to its enormous popularity among young people. Reportedly, one in five high school students has tried vaping this year. This number has tripled in the past three years.
