She begged Reddit users for their opinions, noting that she’d asked for suggestions before.
The mom-to-be started, “Hey guys! I’ve posted here before about girl names and you guys have given me beautiful names, but now I need your opinion on a name.
“My boyfriend thinks it’s stupid and she’ll be laughed at for it, but I think it’s cute,” she said before revealing that the name she had in mind was Cinderella.
She explained that she loved the name, adding that there were many “cute nicknames” for their baby to have.
“I thought Cindy or Ella would be a nice nickname?” she said.
However, the woman said she did not want their daughter to be bullied.
“I don’t want her to be made fun of at all, but to me it’s cute. Any input is appreciated,” she said.

One person wrote, “Girl, no.”
Another user added, “It’s not my first go-to compared to the other princesses, but I don’t totally hate it either.” I think it stands out more to others and 100% of people would assume she was named after the Disney princess, while the other names (Belle, Ariel, Aurora, Merida, Elsa, Anna, Tiana, Jasmine, who (the f* **) otherwise I miss lol) could be played as if it didn’t come from Disney, even if that was the reason for choosing it.’
Someone else said, ‘Call her Ellie. Cinderella’s not a good idea.’
A fourth commented, “Belle or Ariel are cute princess names. The name Cinderella is not something to inflict on a human being. It’s okay for a cat or a hamster, but a baby girl… With all due respect, no, dear, no. If you like the nicknames Cindy or Ella, there are several other names you could use that would go well with one of those nicknames: Cynthia, Eleanor, Lucinda, Elaine, Elena, etc.”
“I’m a kindergarten teacher and there was a little girl at school named Cinderella. No one laughed at her (I know). But she can definitely see teasing happening, especially now that she’s reaching high school,” one person added.
After reading the comments, the mom-to-be said she was “happy” that she was getting different opinions and looking at other names.
According to Baby Center. comthe name Cinderella became popular in 1950, when the original Disney movie was released.
The name’s popularity declined briefly after that and remained stable until 2021, when a live-action version of Cinderella starring Camila Cabello was released.
