Sonya Driver, mother of two, started Eco Tan in 2009 when she was an international flight attendant.
Her sister was diagnosed with melanoma and was looking for a natural spray tan that would not harm her skin. She struggled to find one and was so outraged by the false and misleading claims made on beauty products that she started her own range.
‘My research and development started from my small kitchen. I started buying samples of everything natural and organic. I bought my lab equipment off eBay and joined chemistry forums, trying to teach myself to be a chemist. It was much harder than I thought,” she says.

“Looking back, even when I was a teenager, I was always interested in health food stores and organic foods. While my friends would go to Maccas, I would get a vegetarian jaffle.
‘Many years later, my love for organic products and cruelty-free products has never wavered. The mighty dollar is not my idol. I’m super proud to be part of the Australian organic industry.’
