A travel expert tasted a world-famous hot chocolate from Paris – and argued by saying it looked like the ‘dregs of a toilet bowl after an explosion of diarrhea’.

She recently visited four famous Parisian spots and ranked their hot chocolates, one of which left a particularly sour taste in her mouth.
Some French hot chocolate has a thick sauce-like texture and is served with whipped cream to control the rich flavor. The drinks are meant to be sipped over a period of time, rather than consumed quickly.
Kelsey didn’t enjoy the sweet treat at a popular, long-running coffeehouse – rating it a ‘4 out of 10’.
“It was just the worst,” she said. ‘Everything was overpriced, the staff had a bad atmosphere and the hot chocolate just wasn’t hitting the mark.’

Other places were “fine,” but Kelsey described another cafe’s version as “too bitter and gritty.”
“It might be different if you like dark chocolate, but I just wasn’t a fan of it.”
However, Kelsey enjoyed the sweet drink at Carette and Angelina cafes, praising the chocolate’s “decadent and delicious” taste and “silky” texture.
Many similarly revealed that they also ‘hated’ hot chocolate in Paris.
“It’s chocolate sauce, not hot chocolate,” someone said. “Mine literally tasted like dirt.”
‘To be honest the hot chocolate didn’t taste that great and the service in Paris was quite shocking! A waiter rolled her eyes after we ordered it,” one man said.
“On my trip to France I rushed to these popular cafes and it was so overrated and not worth the money,” said another.
‘I think Parisian hot chocolate isn’t for me because I found it too bitter. I love it because it’s the taste of milk chocolate,” one woman wrote.
One man said: ‘I came in first place last year and wasn’t impressed. I could make better hot chocolate! OVERRATED, that’s how I would describe it.’

Others couldn’t get enough of it.
“I love drinking hot chocolate, they are so chic,” said one. ‘No one likes it as much as Paris.’
Another said: ‘I love Parisian hot chocolate, I have a trip booked in December and I can’t wait to try it everywhere.’
‘Thanks for sharing – looks like I have an itinerary for my next trip!’ another wrote.
