A woman on TikTok has bragged about her unusual technique for keeping wrinkles away, claiming to use frozen cucumber as a form of ‘natural Botox’.
Kendall Rae Kahn28, explained that she started using the method after seeing someone else make a video about it, claiming it helped with inflammation and prevented her from ‘forgetting’ the cucumbers she had in the fridge.
But dermatologists have shared their skepticism about the alleged beauty hack, telling DailyMail.com that cucumber should definitely not be seen as a replacement for the real thing.
In her newly resurfaced clip, which was originally posted in January, the Texas content creator showed how she used the frozen cucumber slice and explained the so-called methodology behind it.
Kendall showed off how she used the frozen cucumber on her face, claiming it was “natural Botox.”
“About nine times out of 10 when I buy cucumbers, I forget I have them and end up throwing them away,” Kendall told her viewers.
“So I came across this video that said cucumbers are really good for your skin, anti-inflammation, and full of vitamins, and it’s basically natural Botox.”
Botox, short for “botulinum toxin,” is an injection made of neurotoxins, which work to weaken the muscles in the face or other parts of the body, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Not only can it be used to smooth and reduce wrinkles, but it can also be used to treat migraines and other problems.
‘From now on, I’m going to freeze the cucumbers that I forget to throw away in the refrigerator, which is what I did before. I peeled them, cut them in half and froze them,” Kendall said.
The creator revealed that she started applying the frozen cucumbers after using her ice roller, a beauty tool that combats facial puffiness.
She claimed that when she used the cucumber earlier that day, her skin was “so soft” and the scent was heavenly.
“Natural Botox cucumber, full of vitamins, helps with inflammation, and when I’m done I just cut off the end and put it back in the freezer for tomorrow,” she said.

“I won’t waste any more cucumbers, I can promise you that,” Kendall vowed.
But it looks like Kendall isn’t the only one who has used cucumbers to achieve a number of healthy skin benefits.
In March, a TikTok user named Nikki tried the method, as well as another one called Alyssa Michelle, who promised to keep viewers informed.
However, according to several board-certified dermatologists, using cucumbers instead of Botox doesn’t work, and is certainly not a substitute for the real thing.
“Cucumbers cannot be used as ‘natural Botox’ and have no neuromodulator effects on the muscles,” says a Texas dermatologist. Dr. Jean-Charles told DailyMail.com.
“Botox works by blocking the presynaptic release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, causing temporary paralysis of the affected muscle,” she continued.
Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky, also known as the popular one @dermguru on TikTok, agreed with Dr. Charles.
“Using cucumbers on the skin is unlikely to be dangerous, but it will not produce Botox-like results,” Zubritsky, who practices in Mississippi, told DailyMail.com. ‘If you want to use cucumbers for the skin, make sure you have realistic expectations of what it can and cannot achieve.’
Dr. Zubritsky explained that while the frozen veggies weren’t a replacement for Botox, it could have some “minor benefits” on the skin, such as helping with inflammation, as Kendall mentioned in the video clip.

“The coolness helps constrict the blood vessels,” said Dr. Zubritsky.
‘Cucumbers are also quite hydrating and contain vitamin K, which can both help hydrate the skin and improve blood circulation while reducing dark circles.’
As a result, the cucumbers can provide a temporary solution, but it is certainly not a replacement for the injection.
“Cucumbers have naturally moisturizing, soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients and can definitely improve skin hydration, temporarily reducing the appearance of fine lines,” says a Minnesota dermatologist. Dr. Jenny Liu told DailyMail.com.
If you’re still looking for something more natural to smooth skin than a Botox injection, it’s extremely important to use sunscreen, all three dermatologists advised.
“There are no good ‘natural remedies’ for Botox,” said Dr. Charles.
“But if you don’t want to use Botox, a consistent skincare routine consisting of sunscreen and retinoids can help with fine lines and wrinkles.”
Furthermore, Dr. Liu recommends using a retinoid, vitamin C serum, and peptides.
