I was shamed over this outfit I wore on a quick shopping trip to Kmart in WA – but I don’t see anything wrong with it
An Australian nurse was left shocked and confused after a stranger made a comment about her outfit during a quick shopping trip.
Hayli Hooper from Western Australia went to Kmart in February after a visit to the gym to buy household items. She wore a red sports bra, pink shorts with matching trainers and a hat.
The 38-year-old woman told FEMAIL that she was standing at the women’s clothing display when an older woman, probably in her forties, approached her.
“She looked me up and down, grabbed her youngest child’s hand and said, ‘You should be ashamed of yourself, cover up!’” Hayli said.
The angry woman pulled the child’s hand and walked away.
“It took me a moment to realize what she had said! I was shocked, only 50 yards away was the activewear area. My entire outfit was from Kmart and had been purchased a month earlier,” Hayli said.
‘How ridiculous – if the lady had ever set foot in a gym she would have noticed that this was a perfectly normal outfit. All you could see was an inch of my stomach and normal cycling shorts and I can’t help it that I have big boobs.
“How am I the negative image here? Someone who is fit and healthy. Honestly, the way she said it, she might as well have spit at me.”

Hayli couldn’t believe the ‘disgusting’ outburst and wondered how anyone could be so horrible.
Hayli is a nurse and creator of Only Fans. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time she’s been rejected because of her outfit.
A week earlier, she visited a nice restaurant, wearing a bandage skirt and an orange top from Kmart with a drawstring waist.
A staff member quickly told Hayli that the business did not tolerate ‘beach attire’ and an argument ensued before she was sent away.
Both situations irritated Hayli and she later discovered that the restaurant had blocked her on social media.

Earlier this year, another young woman claimed she was told to leave the gym because her outfit “did not meet” the dress code.
Emi Romerofrom Colorado felt “shocked” and “embarrassed” when a staff member confronted her about her outfit, due to the gym’s policy that prohibits women from wearing uncovered sports bras.
However, the 28-year-old, who is five months pregnant, is adamant she didn’t break any rules, wearing camouflage leggings with a brown tank top, which hid her belly.
“To be honest, at first I felt really ashamed and wanted to cry, because I already felt a bit insecure about the changes I would experience during my pregnancy,” Emi told FEMAIL.
‘As time went on, I became more and more frustrated and disappointed.’

In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, Emi talks about the dilemma while filming herself in her car.
“I’m wearing this tank top today, right?” she said.
And the owner’s wife keeps staring at me while I’m training. And [the] owner type of walks [over] halfway through my workout. He says something like, ‘Listen, my wife has a problem with what you’re wearing right now. We don’t allow sports bras.’
Emi felt confused and said she was aware of the rule and that she wasn’t wearing a sports bra.
But the owner replied, “No, I agree with you, but it’s really hard to tell what’s a sports bra and what’s not… so you’ll either have to leave it on or put on a top.”
Emi claimed she looked around and saw other women exercising wearing “super short tops” and showing off their “whole bellies.”
