I run a fake restaurant on a delivery app and make $400 a day from unsuspecting customers. I won’t let the jealous haters stop me
A savvy businessman is being criticized online after revealing he makes $400 a day from a fake restaurant on a popular food delivery app.
The man, posting anonymously on Reddit, gloated about his success in serving overpriced microwave meals to unsuspecting guests.
He explained that he had registered a company, bought take-out boxes from Amazon and created a number of social media accounts for his ‘restaurant’.
He then signed up for a few delivery apps and was soon able to quit his day job.
“I resell microwave meals… some of the meals I add something to make them look better, like cheese,” he said.
‘Should I feel bad? I’m a bit proud of it to be honest,” he added.
He added that it is indeed operating legally with all applicable insurance and certifications.
He doesn’t have to operate from the commercial kitchen where he lives, but a hygiene inspector can visit at any time.

“I’ll get through it without any problems,” he insisted.
Some were impressed by the man’s genius.
‘There’s someone in my area who does this, but doesn’t even cook the food. They are called ‘snax in the city’ and only sell junk food; chips, pop, cookies, candy and ice cream. Sounds brilliant if you ask me,” said one man.
‘I love this, you don’t have to leave your house and just add your own piece when you need food. So little effort!’, another laughed.
Other people were less impressed.
“I think it’s a bit immoral,” said one.
“This just makes my restaurant anxiety worse,” said another.
A third said: ‘Some idiot microwaves your food with his hand down his pants while laughing at how smart he is. Is this really the man you want to give money and also trust in food safety? Some people here act like this guy reinvented the wheel, which is even sadder.”
Some claimed to recognize the ‘scam’.
“I think I probably ordered so much sh**y delivery food from you,” one man said in disgust.
And others revealed it’s “happening in brick-and-mortar restaurants, too.”
“I’ve worked in so many kitchens where things like lasagna or moussaka are heated by the portion from a frozen plate,” one woman said.
‘I ordered a Cornish Pasty at a small restaurant, paid seven or eight dollars for it, and heard them punching the numbers on the microwave a minute later. It was very disappointing,” another added.
‘(I) Used to work in a cafe in Sainsbury’s and people seemed surprised to hear that the food there was all frozen ready meals, cooked in batches and left in a warm cupboard for however long. They could have gotten the same thing for a quarter of the price if they just bought it off the shelf,” said a third.
They added that drivers don’t seem to mind picking up meals from his home address
The businessman gave tips to people to start their own microwave restaurant service using delivery services.
“Make sure you taste everything yourself, find out which brands are best and what extras you can add to your menu,” he said.
‘If you don’t own your house or flat, look at the laws about it. I think the landlord should give you permission to run a business,” he added.
‘So far only two people have complained and I gave them my money back. They didn’t even say it felt like a frozen meal, they just weren’t that excited about the taste. It’s not hard to pay someone back when you don’t have to pay employees, pay rent or buy equipment.”
Other people have expressed disgust at “fake” restaurants on delivery apps, but have negatively rated restaurants with many different names and listings.
“I can’t believe this is still allowed – they’re all the same bad pizzeria,” one man fumed on Reddit, sharing a snapshot of three listings.
One driver revealed they picked up a Philly cheese steak meal from an ‘Italian restaurant’ and a barbecue meal from an ‘American’ restaurant – which was actually from the same city center kitchen.
“I know a pizzeria around the corner that literally has about 30 different names among delivery companies, from pizza, hamburger, wings, pasta, sandwich, etc. Yeah, the food sucks,” said another.
