“Just like everyone else, I have to pay a mortgage!” Brenda Edwards Reveals She Returned To Her Account During The Pandemic And Fight Against Breast Cancer Because She’s ‘Not Proud’ And ‘Has To Work’
Brenda Edwards has revealed that she has returned to her old job in accounting during the coronavirus pandemic because she has to pay a “mortgage like everyone else”.
The Loose Women star, 53, claimed she also revisited her past career during her 2016 battle with breast cancer, as she’s not too “proud” and “has to work.”
Before she rose to fame taking fourth place in the second series of The X Factor in 2005, Brenda had a “very successful” career as a credit manager.
“Just like everyone else, I have to pay a mortgage!” Brenda Edwards has revealed she has returned to her old job in accounts during the coronavirus pandemic
During an appearance on Saturday Night With Hayley Palmer, she told the presenter: “I was a credit manager for 25 years, very successful, and I will go back and do it again if my career…”
When a surprised Hayley asked, “Would you?” Brenda replied, “Yes, I did. I did it during the pandemic and I did it when I got breast cancer because I had to work.’
Brenda – who has been a panelist on Loose Women since 2019 – added: “Yeah, I’m not proud. Like everyone else, I have a mortgage to pay.’

When explaining the role, she said, “It just takes a bit of skill. A creditor manager, if we stay in a hotel for example, you have a beautiful hotel, but you have to pay for the furnishings, the utilities, the people who provide this and that.
“My job was to pay and keep them under control and I was very good at it, yes, and I’ll get back to it tomorrow. It’s like riding a bike, you never forget it.’
Last year, Brenda revealed that she once collapsed onstage during a production of Hairspray after learning she had stage three breast cancer.
The singer, who has been cancer-free for six years as of 2022, spoke about the heartbreaking moment when her co-stars all started crying while singing I Know Where I’ve Been one night.

Brenda appeared as a guest on Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best and explained why that particular song is so “gripping” to her.
“When I did the show in 2016, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and I did the show and sang that song,” she said.
It’s like ‘There’s a road we’ve come down, so many lost along the way’ and those words came up and the cast all started crying.
“Tracy Turnblade, she held my hands with tears and I was like, ‘Honey, I can’t sing and cry, you have to stop this, please stop it”.
“The main change, there was no singing at all because I was just in tears, the first four five rows they were in tears and I’m sure they said ‘wow, this is really good acting’ because nobody knew, I had ‘I didn’t say anything about it.’
The public, unaware of her diagnosis at the time, gave her a standing ovation.
Saturday Night With Hayley Palmer airs weekly at 9 p.m. on Spotlight TV.
