A woman has shared an unexpected text conversation after messaging her late father.
Kathy’s father passed away in 2020 and the young woman had been sending him messages on his old phone number in recent years.
After a particularly difficult day, she wanted to talk to her father and sent a simple text, “I miss you every day,” without expecting to ever hear back.
But an answer in the form of two question marks stopped her.

“Whoa,” Kathy wrote back. ‘This is my father’s old telephone number, he passed away in 2020. I didn’t expect a response.’
But the stranger took pity on Kathy and offered support in the way they knew best: a photo of their pet cat.
‘I want to see my kitten acting crazy!’ asked the stranger.
They then sent an image of a yawning black cat, leading to a shocking revelation.
The stranger’s pet is named Lucky, a nickname that has special ties to Kathy’s family.
“When I was a kid, my dad gave us a puppy named Lucky,” she said. “This (interaction) feels like a hug from him.”

Many on Reddit were overwhelmed by Kathy’s post, with a few claiming it was a sign from her father.
“Signs are everywhere and your dad just gave you one,” someone said.
‘That’s so basic human. But healthy,” another said of the interaction. “It reminds me of a toddler who is overloaded with information and just responds with, ‘Do you want to see my Pokemon cards?’
“I’m a father and this brought tears to my eyes,” one man said.
“This post makes me want to make an album of my cute cat pictures in case there are any wrong numbers or scam texts,” one woman said.
A few shared similar memories of parents who have passed away.
‘We kept my father’s mobile phone number active for a long time after his death in 2011, so that I could hear his voice in his outgoing voicemail box.
‘I have also left messages that would leave me feeling very vulnerable and heartbroken in the years after his death. My sympathies are with you and my thoughts are with you,” one woman wrote.
‘I lost my father thirteen years ago and I have a tape recording of him reading a book to me, which I listen to every now and then when I miss him a little extra. It’s the little things we cherished at the time and would love to experience now,” said a second.
