I make $200,000-a-year running my own business and love every bit of it… but there is one generation that is just unreliable

A business owner who earns a whopping $200,000 a year has criticized Gen Z employees, claiming they are untrustworthy.

The Gold Coast man said managing younger employees was one of the toughest things to do while running his roofing and siding business.

“In the generation younger than me, everyone is untrustworthy,” he told the jobs app Getahead in a TikTok video.

He said the best thing about working for himself is the “freedom” to do whatever he wants because he is the boss.

The man also admitted that he never completed a business degree and that he only received a promotion after he got a job in a trade.

“You go out there and your mindset determines whether you’re driven or not,” he said.

‘If you’re not driven, you want to work for someone else. If [you are driven]you work for yourself’.

He also encouraged people who want to start their own business not to “be afraid” and “just do it.”

Dozens of social media users agreed that having your own business has its advantages.

“Work 100 hours so you don’t have to work 38 hours for someone else,” one person wrote.

“I feel this deep in my heart as an entrepreneur,” wrote someone else.

Others said that there are enough people who are committed to their work, even if they are not self-employed.

“Just because you work for someone else doesn’t mean you’re not motivated,” one person wrote.

Corey Tomkins blamed social media for presenting a false image of how easy it is to achieve success.

“Influencers are selling get-rich-quick schemes that get into the heads of these students — and it almost creates a sense of entitlement,” he said.

“It’s not even that one percent of people who have a Lamborghini, a mansion, or a beautiful thing and they’re trumpeting it on social media.”
