‘I lost my best friend’: Ken Block’s racing star daughter Lia makes emotional tribute to her dad

The daughter of racing legend and YouTube sensation Ken Block has spoken out following his tragic death in a snowmobile accident on Monday.

In an emotional tribute to her father on Instagram, Lia Block said: “I didn’t just lose my father, I lost my best friend” and “the only person I’ve ever looked up to.”

The 16-year-old, who is a teenage racing star following in the footsteps of her father’s exciting motorsport career, added that “there are no words to describe how amazing my father was.”

Just hours before the horrific accident in Utah, a proud Ken Block bragged about his daughter Lia’s accomplishments to his own Instagram followers.

Ken Block was known around the world for his ferocious driving replete with exhilarating stunts that were viewed by tens of millions on his YouTube channels, as well as his prolific professional rally career.

The 55-year-old action sports star died after his snowmobile flipped over and fell on him in Utah on Monday afternoon, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office said.

Block was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lia Block said of her father: ‘No matter what I did, he was always there for me. I can’t believe how quickly they took it from all of us.

“There are no words that can describe how amazing my father was, he lived so many lifetimes, accomplished more in 55 years than most people in 10 lifetimes, and lived his life to the fullest every day.”

Lia Block added: “He always did what he loved no matter what, right down to the last second, and he was always there for me, my brothers and my mom every time we did what we loved.”

“He never said no to something we wanted to try, he never pushed us to like what he liked, he just opened the door for us to explore. He never missed the opportunity to help us grow as good people, he always told me that he wanted us to be even more amazing, loving, happy, selfless humans than he and my mom.

He always helped others and opened doors for many other people. I can only hope to do half of the amazing things he did.

He added that growing up, he always knew that he wanted to be like his father and that he “will try hard every day” to make him proud.

“I love you to the moon and back, kenny boi,” he concluded.

Just hours before her death, the motorsport legend posted a photo of Lia next to a 1985 Audi Quattro that she had bought and restored herself.

The action star regularly bragged about his pride in his children to his eight million Instagram followers, particularly his eldest daughter, Lia, and her car endeavours.

Lia also previously competed on her father’s Hoonigan Racing team.

In his latest Instagram post, Block said: “The fourth and final episode of my 16 year old daughter Lia buying, tearing down, rebuilding and now driving her ’85 Audi Ur Quattro will be live at 8am PST tomorrow on my Instagram channel. Youtube”. .

Prior to her death, comments to no avail followed from Block, praising Lia for her exploits. Then word of the horrible news broke, and people flocked to the page to pay their own tributes to Ken Block.

In one of his most recent Instagram posts, Block also shared his vacation trip surrounded by his family at a snow-covered Canadian ski lodge.

The former rally professional had posted a family photo with his wife Lucy and their three daughters, including Lia, as he wished his fans a “merry Christmas from the blocks”.

Block’s wife, Lucy, also posted a small tribute to her late husband on Tuesday.

She posted a picture of the helmet he had been wearing when he died with a captioned heart emoji.
