I live in the Emily in Paris building – it’s not as glamourous as people think

I live in the Emily in Paris building and it’s not as glamorous as people think – my door is broken and my neighbors hate the show

A woman who lives in the building used in Emily in Paris has revealed that it is not what it should be.

Andrada, an expat living in the French capital, rents a flat in the building made famous by the Netflix show starring Lilly Collins as Emily, a goofy girl from Chicago who ends up working, living and romanticizing in Paris.

Many fans of the program have swooned over Emily’s living quarters in central Paris and have visited the location on trips to the City of Life.

But Andrada has revealed TikTok that actually living in the building isn’t as glamorous as the rom-com would have you think.

Instead of the lavish expat life Emily enjoys, Andrada has to deal with a faulty door and passive-aggressive neighbors who have taken it upon themselves to chase away any tourists trying to enter the building.

Andrada shared a video every night of her coming home to her stubborn door.

Filmed over the course of several days – and featuring glamorous outfits to boot – the funny clip shows her fighting her door and growing increasingly frustrated.

“The reality of life in the ‘Emily in Paris’ building: fighting a broken door every day of the week,” she captioned the video.

In a comment, she later revealed that the apartment’s landlord had to change the door shortly after the video was shot because it stopped working altogether.

Her door isn’t the only aspect of the flat that Andrada dislikes. Since Emily’s release in Paris, several fans have gawked at the building, angering residents and neighbours.

The tenant revealed she had been harassed on four occasions by neighbors who suspected she was a fan of the show sneaking through the flat to take a picture.

“The residents are guarding the ‘Emily in Paris’ building as if it were a national monument as it is the 4th time this has happened,” she said on TikTok.

Andrada revealed that her neighbors had repeatedly chased her about whether she was one of the show's fans who tried to sneak into the building.

“The neighborhood watch is on it,” she added. The Parisian told in a video how a neighbor chased her with questions one night when she took out her trash cans.

She said the man didn’t believe her when she told him she lived in the building and kept asking her for her landlord’s name.

She said the nosy neighbor asked her if she was “here for Emily” and posed the question to her friends when they visited.

Andrada panicked and said to him, “Here are my keys, will you go upstairs and make sure I can open the door?”

Only when she told him where she came from did the man change his attitude and become friendly.

She said he told her, “I’m sorry. So many people come into the building and I never know who’s who and it really pisses me off and I’m sorry I’m being aggressive.”

But his apology was not well received by the tenant, who said on her TikTok: “If I tell you seven times in a row that I live here, I will tell you the name of my neighbors, then I will tell you the floor I’m on.” mat, I show you my keys, and you call me a liar for telling you the name of the other landlord?’

She also revealed to her followers that she believes the neighbor was the one who wrote “Emily Not Welcome” in red paint on the door of the building, warning tourists not to enter.
