I keep my strawberries fresh for up to THREE WEEKS with simple hack – and all I use is one item and water

A woman has shared the simple hack she uses to keep her strawberries fresh for up to three weeks.

The anonymous woman, believed to be based in Britain, told how she spent ’36 years’ of her life without knowing the trick – but then discovered that leaving strawberries in glass jars extends their lifespan.

She originally bought the berries from a supermarket expecting them to spoil within a week, but decided to try the method by storing them in a sealed glass jar with water.

To her surprise, she claims the strawberries had a shelf life of up to three weeks, prompting her to rush to social media to share the tip with savvy shoppers.

She wrote: ‘It took me 36 years to figure out that if you put strawberries in glass jars they keep forever. These, no word of a lie, are over three weeks old. From the superstore.

‘If I buy them there, I’m lucky they last five days before they start to brown. I don’t know who else knows this trick, but if you don’t know it, you’re welcome.’

One user wrote: ‘Oh my God. Thank you. I really needed that; my strawberries spoil so quickly.’ Another replied: ‘Oh my God. Amazing when it works because ‘(sic) I’m tired of throwing away half a tub.’

A third said: ‘I did this with strawberries and although they didn’t go moldy and mushy, they had a vinegary taste.’

However, someone commented: ‘Load of s**t. I’ve tried it. They left faster.” Another commented: ‘Why would you want to eat strawberries that are three weeks old and who knows how long they were sitting before you bought them? The nutrient content would decrease significantly.’

“I do this, but it’s a myth that they last forever. They last a long time and look fresh on the outside, but rot on the inside. You smell it when you open the jar. Works for all berries and grapes, etc.,” wrote another.
