I have not slept in the same bed as my husband for two and a half years – here’s why we recommend it
- Jess, 28, admitted that she and her husband were on the verge of divorce
- Before the current sleep arrangement, her son had not slept all night
A woman has urged others to sleep separately from their partners after it saved her marriage.
Mother-of-one Jess told TikTok followers that she and her husband haven’t slept in the same bed for two and a half years.
The 28-year-old admitted that the couple have barely slept a wink since their toddler Dylan was born two and a half years ago.
‘The lack of sleep has absolutely wreaked havoc on our jobs. Our daily lives and relationships too,” Jess explained
Confessing that they were on the verge of a break-up, she added: “The crazy thing is that my husband and I are almost separated by sleep.

The pair took the plunge and started sleeping in separate beds since November last year in a bid to see if they could finally get their toddler to sleep – and haven’t looked back since.
‘It has also done absolute wonders for our relationship. We are not fighting anymore,” she said.
Jess revealed that his lack of sleep may not only have affected her relationship but also contributed to her poor health, and decided to sleep in a spare bed in Dylan’s room.
After installing the double bed in the two-year-old’s room, the couple consciously decided that Jess would sleep there, while her husband stayed in their original bed.
Miraculously, her toddler has managed to sleep through the night since the change in sleeping conditions.
Jess also happily admitted that the unconventional change has helped her and her husband get along better as they are now both well rested.
‘[If] You’re in the same boat as us, I would 1000% recommend this as I sleep really well, as does my husband and my toddler too,” Jess concluded.
However, the mother’s less-than-usual sleeping arrangements have divided many, as some strongly opposed the suggestion.

Many remained divided over the unconventional arrangement, with some expressing their own experiences and others noting that they could never be part of their ‘soulmate’.
“I couldn’t imagine this, as soon as our boy is in bed, we are in bed cuddling,” one person said.
A second wrote: ‘My husband and I miss each other when the other is not next to each other.’
“If that works for you, I wouldn’t be able to sleep with my husband.
“He is my rock, my soulmate. We work together to put children to sleep. Start keeping up with the routine early,” chimed in a third.
‘People just can’t train [their] children to sleep,” said another, while one added: “So it’s because of the child? I can’t help but think this is not good for the child.’
But others also defended the mother, claiming their relationships have improved since they slept separately from their partners.
‘My partner and I don’t have children, but we sleep in separate rooms. He snores like a pig and I grind my teeth like a donkey. We are both much happier,” one person wrote.
“Separate sleeping happens in so many households that it needs to be normalized,” said one user.
‘We have had separate rooms for over ten years. “I swear we’re much nicer to each other because my insomnia and his snoring aren’t fighting every night,” another shared.
