A mother who got a face tattoo in honor of her daughter says trolls claim the inking makes her a ‘bad parent’, but she has no regrets.
Katie Taylor, 27, from Rayleigh, Essex, has been getting tattoos since she was 18 and wanted a special one that always reminded her of her two-year-old daughter.
She has a rose, in a nod to her daughter’s middle name, on her face so it can serve as a ‘constant’ reminder – and while trolls haven’t been kind, Katie proudly shows off her tattoo.
Trolls have told Katie that her tattoos make her a ‘bad parent’ and a ‘criminal’, but she doesn’t care and say her little girl ‘loves them’.
The stay-at-home mum spent £80 on the tattoo – which is on the side of her left ear – and it took an hour to complete.
Katie Taylor got a tattoo of a rose on her face in memory of her daughter
She said, ‘My daughter said to me, “That’s my tattoo.” She loves it. I’ve had comments about my tattoos, like, “You’re a bad parent.”
The mom already has about 15 tattoos — a sleeve on her right arm and thigh — and went on to replenish her inks on Nov. 16, 2023, with a design on her face.
Aside from her first tattoo at age 18 — a bird design that she quickly covered in green roses — Katie has “never regretted” her tattoos.
Katie said: ‘I’ve always loved tattoos and piercings. My face is so soft on the face. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.’
Katie said the inking wasn’t painful, but she doesn’t plan on applying more to her face.
She said she has had mixed reactions to her ink, with some loving it and others brutally criticizing her appearance.
‘Some people online have said, ‘You’re a criminal’, ‘You look like you just got out of jail’ – [but] I don’t judge someone by their appearance.’
Katie said all that matters is her partner, Jake Kennedy, 29, a business owner, and that their daughter loves her tattoo.

She said Jake encouraged her to get her face tattoo when she thought about it.
Katie said: ‘He was the one who said, ‘If you want it, go get it’. My daughter says, “Mommy has a lot of drawings on her arms.”
‘This tattoo has to be my favorite so far. I want my daughter to grow up knowing that if she wants to get a tattoo or do something for herself, she can go and do it.
“I want to show her that she can do what the world wants.”
