I got stuck in the toilet at work on the first day in my new role – my colleagues had to kick down the door to save me

A hilarious video shows a woman stuck in the toilet at her workplace for 30 minutes on her first day.

For Lola Bridger, 23, disaster struck during an otherwise great first day in her new role as an administrative assistant in London.

At the end of the day, she made what she thought would be a quick trip to the bathroom, only to be shocked when the door got stuck, locking her from the inside.

Lola was trapped for half an hour before she was finally freed by hero staff members who kicked in the door to save her.

After posting a TikTok video that was filmed before she was released, people joked that Lola will forever be known as “the employee who got stuck in the toilet.”

Here Lola fumes once she realizes there is no obvious way out of the locked toilet area

Lola said: ‘I got a new job as an administrative assistant in London, I went home for the day and went to the toilet.

‘The door closed normally, although I did notice it was a little stiff, but once I closed it it seemed to work fine.

‘I tried to open it and it didn’t work at all, the lock was permanently stuck in the lock position so no matter how many times I unlocked and locked it its position in the door frame wouldn’t change.

“I was stuck for 30 minutes, luckily I had my phone, so I messaged the workgroup chat that I had literally just been added to.”

In a video on TikTok, Lola moans, “It’s my first day,” before trying to hold down the toilet door handle and escape the stall.

She then ruthlessly tried to shift her entire weight against the wall to pry the door open.

The next scene showed her turning her phone at a different angle by placing it on the toilet, again showing her trying to pry the door open while pulling the handle.

After several more attempts, Lola turned to the camera and crouched on the ground before letting out a defeated sigh of frustration.

Lola said things came to a head when she started feeling ‘claustrophobic’ as her body started to heat up

Poor Lola was trapped for a whopping 30 minutes before she was finally freed by hero staffers who kicked in the door to save her

The debacle continued when the video cut to what appeared to be laughter, coming from an unknown woman saying, “Turn it the other way.”

Lola stood up on the toilet seat and shouted back, “Don’t laugh, I’m claustrophobic!”

‘Oh no. It’s actually stuck, what a first day,’ the woman replied. The pair then chuckled together at the bizarre moment.

The colleague may have been Lola’s saving grace when she later called the maintenance team to come help.

“One of the ladies I work with came down and tried to open it from the outside,” Lola explained.

Lola had enjoyed an otherwise great first day at her new job as an administrative assistant in London

“And when she knew there was nothing we could do, she called in the maintenance team.

“They tried everything and even got magnet things to lift the door up, but that didn’t work either, so the last resort was kicking the door down.”

Lola said things came to a head when she started feeling “claustrophobic” as her body started to heat up.

“I’m claustrophobic and got hot and sweaty,” she said. ‘Plus, my friends laughed at the fact that I told them I was stuck.

‘So I thought about filming it to keep my mind occupied and my friends entertained.

‘After my rescue I immediately went to the pub for a large wine, because it was all a bit too much for me.

‘I felt a bit embarrassed, but it wasn’t my fault, so I looked at the funny side of things.

There was no sympathy for her ordeal as people joked that she would forever be known as the ’employee who got stuck in the toilet’

‘They sent an email to work in the morning saying that new starter Lola got stuck in the toilet yesterday and the door had to come out – that was even more embarrassing!’

In the video, Lola can be heard joking, “At least now everyone knows my name, right, that damn idiot who got stuck in the toilet.”

Finally, two men break down the door by crashing into it before the lock actually breaks and Lola is released half an hour later.

The clip has since received more than 450,000 likes and more than 3,800 comments from users left in the lurch by Lola’s bad luck.

One person shared a similar experience, writing: ‘They better not call you a toilet girl. The first day I tripped on a one-inch step, hit my head on a glass door and got a concussion.”

Another joked: “That you are now known as the employee who got stuck in the toilet.”

“I would have called the office crying,” said another.

“Who’s laughing at our American toilets with an opening big enough to crawl under the door,” asked a fourth.

Meanwhile, someone else said: ‘I should go home. I’ll try again another day.’
