I ‘ghosted’ a close friend because she was getting too close to my boyfriend – she even started wearing his hoodie

An American woman has had to take drastic measures to protect her relationship with her boyfriend – by cutting off and ghosting the friend she accused of crossing boundaries.

Kelly Kim, from Los Angeles, US, started noticing 'red flag behaviour' from close friend Joanna when she started dating her current boyfriend, who has not been named.

The couple reportedly met through Joanna's introductions on a night out, but Kelly claims Joanna's behavior became suspicious on a night out. video posted to TikTok on November 7.

The content creator posted to her nearly 80,000 followers on her account @kelly_kim_ and uploaded a GWRM (Get ready with me) video as she reflected on the “breakup” with her boyfriend that happened over a year ago .

The video, accompanied by the caption “which one was your favorite? The sandwich is mine,” shows Kelly then applying makeup while talking to the camera.

She started, “Get ready while I talk about the ridiculous things this girl who claims to be a girly girl has done to me.”

Kelly went on to say that she has “never” had to leave a relationship or friendship “cold turkey” and has never experienced a “friendship breakup,” but defined her ex-girlfriend as an “exception.”

She continued, “The day she met my boyfriend, she added him to her 'close friends' story and started posting random TMIs (too much information) on her stories – as an attention trap.”

'This was before my boyfriend and I started dating, but everyone knew we liked each other.

Kelly added, “She borrowed my friend's hoodie when we were all at his house because she was cold.”

After taking the hoodie home, Kelly claimed Joanna continued to wear the garment for two weeks straight and posted photos wearing it on social media.

Deciding to overlook Joanna's behavior, Kelly subsequently noted how her friend began to “show love” for her boyfriend's interests, including by taking a resemblance to clothing brands he regularly wore.

She said: 'I've never heard this girl brag about how much she loves this brand until she met my friend. Spending hours getting ready to see him. I call my other friend and tell her she thinks he's cute.'

The TikTok influencer then poured the “last straw” into Joanna's alleged advances, from “volunteering” to waking up early to personally give a sandwich to her boyfriend.

Kelly said, “He gives him the sandwich he said he likes and then volunteers to get up early so she can hand the sandwich to him so he can take it to work.”

Meanwhile, her ex-girlfriend shared an alternate version of how the situation unfolded, in footage viewed more than 8 million times by curious viewers eager to understand the full picture.

Joanna Lee, a content creator from LA, has one video to her 40,000 followers on TikTok account on November 16, with the scorned friend having to disable her comments as Kelly's fans left offensive messages.

Posting on her account @joannayeonlee, Joanna claimed in the video that Kelly had exaggerated certain details of the story and “badmouthed” her for no apparent reason.

Joanna went on to explain how she played 'Cupid' and introduced the couple after meeting the boyfriend on a birthday night out.

Alluding to accusations of planting 'attention traps' in close friends' stories, Joanna refuted: 'It's actually not that bad. If they were attention traps, why would she be with the close friends too? I would only have boys.'

She added, “The hoodie, I'm just notorious for not returning hoodies. It just took me longer to give this one back because it was really cute.”

Joanna then insisted the crucial sandwich was nothing more than a gesture of goodwill, after Kelly's friend helped mount her TV to the wall.

She said, “Let me show my gratitude somehow. After work I grabbed a sandwich and put it in the fridge. We have secured a sandwich for you, come pick it up before work tomorrow so you can eat it before it spoils.

Joanna concluded, “She went with him to pick it up. I gave her the sandwich. I would have done this for anyone.”

Kelly's comments drew mixed reactions from thousands of viewers, with many condemning Joanna's behavior, while several individuals believe Kelly was wrong to end the friendship to nothing.

One person, siding with Kelly, said, “I feel like the reason Kelly decided to ghose and not communicate was because she knew Joanna would try to set her up.”

Another wrote: 'POV: You saw Joanna's video, thought these were red flags at first, but the algorithm brings you to Kelly's truth.'

However, others found the whole situation petty, with one viewer writing: 'The only thing I had a problem with is the hoodie thing. Everything else was ok??'

One person wrote: 'They're crazy people taking sides when it's so obvious they're both wrong in this situation.'

Another said: 'It's not worth ending a friendship, I could have at least talked,' while a third wrote: 'Am I the only one who doesn't see a problem with this?'
