I flew to Bali and a group of men swore at my baby for crying on the plane: Here’s why babies are not the problem on flights

A mother assaulted a pair of ‘drunk’ men who swore at her one-year-old baby as he struggled to sleep on a late flight.

Aria Nichols shared a photo of her son smiling after Wednesday’s long flight from Bali to New Zealand, but despite her son’s cheerful appearance, Mrs Nichols said their trip was miserable.

“Last night I flew from Bali to New Zealand on a red-eye with my baby on his first birthday,” she said.

‘The drunk boys in front of us were real tough guys who cursed at my baby for crying when he fell asleep and laughed loudly, waking him up repeatedly.

“Babies aren’t the problem on flights.”

Ms Nichols said the men had reclined their seats completely during the flight, making it difficult for her to get in and out of her seat.

Fortunately, the flight attendants were able to help and told the men that there was ‘no more vodka’.

“They told them to raise their seats so I could get back into mine with the sleeping baby, and eventually stopped serving drinks,” Ms. Nichols wrote.

“I bet they’ve seen it all before and worse!”

The mother explained that the loud engine and changing pressure on flights were enough to upset any young child, and stressed the importance of offering parents some understanding and support when traveling with children.

‘It can be quite tough for them at times, and other times they travel like an absolute dream. So hard to predict,” she said.

‘I try to avoid colds in the weeks leading up to the trip because it makes my ears hurt more.’

Dozens of Aussies were shocked by the men’s rude behavior and called on travelers to have more sympathy for children.

“I’m so sorry this happened to you. I honestly don’t know what happened to people, so much entitlement and lack of attention,” one person said.

“I’d rather sit next to a fussy baby than a drunk man any day,” wrote another.

‘How dirty! No, babies are never a problem,” said a third.
