I can’t wait to watch 28 Years Later after seeing an unexpected cameo in the trailer that had my jaw hitting the floor

The time has finally come! I’m so excited for the sequel to Danny Boyle’s 28 days laterwhich happens to be one of my favorite zombie movies of all time. It joins the will of Prime Video’s number one movie Apocalypse Z: the beginning of the end as recent undead stories that we enjoyed watching.

It has everything you could wish for: an impressively desolate London cityscape, a bit of humor and also many dark moments, with the always brilliant Cillian Murphy as the protagonist. So imagine my surprise when he showed up in the 28 years later trailer. Only this time he looks terribly different.

When we last saw Murphy’s Jim character, he had survived the end of the first film. 28 days later. Although he did not appear in the second, 28 weeks laterhe made a surprise cameo appearance in the third film. And yes, it has definitely seen better days!

28 years later will be released in theaters on June 20, 2025, so we’ll have to wait a little longer! But don’t worry, there’s plenty coming and you can check out the hottest new movies hitting theaters in December 2024 while you wait for the horror movie to arrive.

The plot follows a group of survivors who must navigate the terrifying world once again ravaged by those infected with the now iconic Rage Virus, which spiraled out of control in the first film and is apparently going nowhere.

This time the cast is led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes, so we have another star-studded line-up to look forward to. I’m so excited to dive into this universe again.

While it’s still too early for a streaming release, in an ideal world the sequel would release simultaneously on Disney Plus 28 weeks laterbut that’s not guaranteed as the original film isn’t available to stream there. So we’ll have to see if it lands on any of the top streaming services in the coming months.
