An influencer has divided opinion online after revealing that she asks men for their bank account details on the first date.
Sophia Franklin (@sofiaranklyn), 30, a New York-based content creator, admitted, “I’ve asked the last three guys I’ve dated for their bank account information on the first date.”
She explained that she “only wants to date a rich man who has money” and wants to know if she’s “wasting her time.”
“I think, you know, I’ve got a job, I’m very successful,” she told her podcast, Sofia with an F, featuring the latest episode with social media star Leo Skepi.
“So I think I have every right to say, ‘Hello, are we on the same level or am I wasting my time?’.”

“I don’t think it’s weird asking that kind of information on a first date,” she added.
The influencer emphasized that she wants to know the bank account details “especially if they are smaller than six feet.”
“I do and if they don’t show me, I’ll still go on like a second, third date, but I need to know at some point.” A lot of people just think that’s crazy of me to do, I don’t think it’s that crazy.
“Besides, I’m thirty. I’m not really trying to just date and hang out.”
Viewers who saw a snippet of the clip on TikTok had a mixed reaction, with some urging Sofia to “look deeper into happiness and relationships,” while others insisted her opinion was “valid.”

“People who have money are usually not happy about having money and don’t try to be on the same level as anyone else,” a third added.
However, many agreed with Sofia, calling the influencer “iconic.”

Meanwhile, a woman earlier this year responded to haters who called her a “gold digger” and “selfish” for insisting that ladies should “never split the bill on a date” — because she believes guys who ask them to contribute ‘don’t do that’. appreciate the time and effort they put into looking their best for the man.”
Social media commentators were divided on whether Sofia’s opinion was materialistic or purely sensible
For Ella Freimann, 24, a New York dating coach, being with someone who isn’t generous with their wallet isn’t an option, but she insisted it’s not because she’s “money hungry.”
Instead, the 24-year-old explained that she believes potential suitors should always pay the check in full because she has high standards and “knows what she’s got to offer.”
“By splitting the bill, I agree to bond with a man who doesn’t know his role in a relationship and expects me to be 50 percent of the man he isn’t,” she added.
“I’ve learned that men who share the bill don’t value the time and effort a woman puts into herself to look her best for that man.
“50/50 men don’t understand that the woman’s investment is made before the date.”
Ella explained that it’s less about the money and more about quantifying the effort a man is willing to put in.
The dating coach added that by not contributing to the check, she feels she is “keeping her dignity intact” and “avoiding bad experiences with the man in the future.”
Ella has been very outspoken about her position on this TikTokwhere she has gained over 20,000 followers, and her controversial views on dating have generated a lot of comments.
