I am an Irish traveler in Australia and Brisbane ‘winter’ will give me heat stroke
- Eric Roberts, from Downings, is struggling with Australia’s ‘hot winter’
- The Irish man claimed he was about to suffer a ‘heat stroke’ in Brisbane
An Irish expat has been stunned by Australia’s ‘sweltering’ weather, revealing that the winter chill was essentially non-existent while enjoying the beach.
Eric Roberts, from Downings, has traveled through Australia for the Women’s World Cup matches.
The 32-year-old was recently in Brisbane where the ‘winter’ left him sweaty and shirtless on a beach in Noosa.
Eric was confused by the high temperatures during the colder months and didn’t want to imagine what the Australian summer was all about.
The weather in Brisbane fluctuated between maximums of 24C-27C, with a minimum of 13C in the last week of July.

The internet star shared a short clip of him sitting in a park complaining about the weather.
“How in the name of dear Jesus Christ is it winter in Brisbane?” he asked. “It’s about 40C, you can fry an egg on my knee.”
“I’m about to have a heat stroke. How is it here in the summer?’
Eric also visited Bondi Beach in Sydney a few days earlier, where he enjoyed an afternoon by the sea.
Many Queensland residents shared that they have had the opposite experience.
“I live in Brisbane,” a woman said. ‘It was 24C-26 – pretty cold actually. I was still in my sweatpants.’
“It has literally been very cold lately,” said another. “I can’t leave my bed before noon when the sun is up.”
“I live in Brisbane and I’m so grumpy because it’s been freezing,” a third revealed.

But others were equally dissatisfied with the winter heat.
“I think this is a hot winter,” one man said. “It certainly seems warmer than usual. Normally I would be rough any minute.”
“I went out yesterday in a long-sleeved shirt and sweated through it,” said a second. “Why is it so hot?”
Some answered Eric’s question about the summer Down Under.
One woman shared, “Summer is like someone running the sauna next to the sun. It’s like death.’
‘Winter is the only time I can visit Brisbane – other times it’s just unlivable with the heat,’ wrote another.
