A hygiene expert has revealed how to prevent your winter clothes from smelling when you put them away during the summer months. He shares a list of cheap and easy tips that will ensure your fashion favorites stay pristine while they’re in storage.

The tips were shared in a video this week by Mary Futher, who goes by the username Mrs. Sweat on social media.

The expert, who has more than 816,000 followers on the app, revealed her favorite purchase is at the Dollar Store, where she picks up “handy little storage bags.”

She showed a photo of the clear plastic bags, brand Essentials and labeled as sturdy storage bags.

“They’re really cheap and they fit in drawers,” she promised.

Once you have the bags, you’ll also want to purchase some wool dryer balls, which retail for just $5, to keep in the storage containers.

She also offered another hack to keep everything smelling fresh — and avoid bugs.

“To keep the moths away, buy lavender, mint, or thyme essential oil, apply it to the wool ball, put it in the dollar store storage bags, and you won’t have any stinky, old-smelling sweaters or big moth holes,” Furthermore guaranteed.

Her helpful video has been viewed more than 11,000 times since it was posted.

“This tip is specific to wool, cashmere, silk, angora or fur,” she began.

He further explained that it is best to clean those materials before storing them because moths “like dirty materials.”

She said moths specifically look for materials that contain various stains from body oil and food.

“Larvae that they’re about to lay like to feed on those ingredients,” she explained.

‘If you store your woolen winter coat dirty, you are simply giving the moths something to eat for their children.’

In the comments section of the post, some users noted that they had already followed the expert’s advice.
