The husband of a Republican councilwoman in New Jersey, who was shot outside her home, wrote a birthday post for her a month in advance.

Eze Kings honored his wife Eunice Dwumfour’s birthday one month and one day shy of her 31st birthday after she was found dead in her car Wednesday night around 7:22pm

On Thursday, he wrote: “March 4th is your birthday happy glorious birthday to addy my love.”

He posted professional photos in which Dwumfour’s wedding ring was visible in many of the images. The couple married in November.

The researchers said ABC 7 that they are investigating her husband’s links to a church in Nigeria, among other things. Her mother also reportedly spoke to her shooter moments before she was shot dead, but no suspects have yet been named.

The Republican mother-of-one was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses claim the suspected gunman was seen running away from the Camelot apartment complex in La Mer, and a 911 call was placed at 7:22 p.m.

Authorities say the councilwoman, who worked for a Nigeria-based church group, was the intended target, but have not given a reason.

Friends of the politician said the killing may have been racially motivated as the couple lived on “clan land”.

“We all suggested that she not move to that part of Jersey, which we call ‘clan land,’” the friend, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Post. ‘That was a success. That was a murder.

Another friend, Amos Martey, 52, from Ghana, told the Post: ‘I think color played a role. I believe because she is a minority. It may be related to her work… I may be wrong, but that’s how I feel. She breaks my heart.’

The Republican mother-of-one was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday.

His white van was seen being removed from the scene by authorities in the early hours of the morning.

Family members told USA Today that she lived on the property with her 12-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Her sister Priscilla said: ‘She was always happy, very humble and had respect.’

Currently, there have been no arrests in the case, with Sayreville Police and Middlesex County officials investigating the incident.

The councilwoman’s friends paid tribute to her as an ‘incredible friend’ who ‘loved God’.

Detective Juan Rodríguez and Pastor Dr. Nelia Rodríguez posted online saying: ‘I just saw her this morning at the store.

“I remember telling him that I will see you at the HRC meeting tomorrow not knowing that tonight was going to be the end of his life.

‘I can not stop crying. She was 30 years old, young and full of life. We will miss you, my dear and precious friend.

A friend told DailyMail.com that she and her family had just returned from Nigeria on a church trip, describing it as “bubbly and personable”.

Dwumfour was a Certified Business Analyst and Scrum Professional for Fire Congress Fellowship Inc. and a part-time EMT.

She graduated from William Paterson University and served as Director of Churches for the Nigeria-based Royal Assembly of Champions.

Additionally, he ousted the incumbent Democrat in the Sayreville district in November 2021, in a stunning election victory, and did not run for re-election until 2024.

In a statement, Sayreville Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick said: “The community is shocked and saddened by the loss of Eunice Dwumfour, who was a dedicated member of our City Council who was truly committed to serving all of our residents.

“The fact that she was taken from us for a despicable criminal act makes this incident even more horrifying.”

Friends of the politician said the murder could have been racially motivated as the couple lived on ‘clan land’

The mayor said she believes law enforcement will “bring this expedited investigation to a swift and successful conclusion and look forward to the successful identification, arrest, and prosecution of the person responsible.”

Sayreville Republican Chairwoman Karen Bailey Bebert added: “We remember Eunice for how she lived, not how she died.

“She was the epitome of Sayreville, living the American Dream, overcoming challenges with determination and a smile.

‘And always giving time and love to others. She embodied Sayreville and will be terribly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.”

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy added that he was “stunned” by her killing, calling it an “act of gun violence.”
