Husband of district attorney who said she was driven to assisted suicide by his domestic violence job

The man accused of abusing his wife, who reportedly died by assisted suicide, has quit his job as a trial lawyer after furlough.

Greenberg Taurig officials said in a statement that Allan Kassenoff had resigned following an investigation into him by his bosses at the company.

Allen was a litigator and stockholder at the agency before he stepped down, though it’s unclear whether he was pushed out or did so voluntarily.

The man was on leave after ex-wife Catherine Kassenoff shared in a Facebook post that he allegedly abused her, which – along with a terminal cancer diagnosis – played a role in her decision to die.

“The company has completed its assessment of the situation to determine Allan Kassenoff’s status with the company,” said a statement from Greenberg Taurig.

Our primary obligation is to uphold and protect the core values and interests of our firm, our clients, our attorneys and our professional associates.

In a shocking and heartbreaking post on Facebook, Catherine had alleged that Allan had abused her and tried to ruin her life before she died.

The woman, who at one point served as special counsel to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, said she was the victim of a “predatory” justice system that kept her children away.

The couple, according to Catherine’s post, were involved in a nasty custody battle over their three daughters that continued to escalate.

In their post on Sunday night, Greenberg Taurig shared that they would provide for the couple’s children financially after Allan’s departure.

“The company is sensitive to the needs of the three children,” the company wrote in their post, labeling the children as “the main victims of the situation.”

“Therefore, we will be setting up a special trust fund with an independent trustee solely for the benefit of these children, which will be voluntarily funded by our firm’s attorneys and staff,” the post continued.

In a separate post in early June, Greenberg Taurig said they planned to investigate Catherine’s claims on social media.

The company explicitly stated that judges or attorneys had not uncovered any evidence of abuse during their custody trial, but they took the claims seriously.

“Nevertheless, the company will conduct its own investigation to determine its status with the company,” the statement posted online reads.

“In the meantime, he’s taking a voluntary leave of absence to focus on his family,” adding that he had been given sole legal custody of the girls.

DailyMail.com reached out to Allan’s attorney, Gus Dimopoulous, on Monday evening, but had not heard back at the time of publication.

“Our primary obligation is to uphold and protect the core values and interests of our Company, our clients, our attorneys and our professional staff,” Greenberg Taurig wrote in a message announcing Allan’s departure from the firm. In the photo: Allan Kassenoff

In their post on Sunday night, Greenberg Taurig shared that they would provide for the couple’s children financially after Allan’s departure.

“In the last four years of my life, I have woken up every day in a nightmare like no other. I can no longer bear the abuse and terror of Allan Kassenoff…I have also endured the emotional devastation of being without my children for so long…”

In Catherine’s Facebook farewell, she released thousands of court documents in a defunct Dropbox link alongside the videos, painting a different picture.

In an email, Allan vowed to “never quit” in their custody battle, which he said would cost him $3 million.

“Even if this court awards you my last dollar, I will never stop protecting them,” Allan wrote in an email to Catherine on March 19. “Until the day I die.”

He added that she “should be really proud of financially decimating” him and their children during their trial.

Allan also said she should have focused her anger on seeking help rather than trying to destroy him.

Along with the details of their nasty legal troubles and his alleged abuse, Catherine shared a video of Allan throwing tantrums and giving her a “fat old loser.”

In another video, you could hear him berating the mother of three children and saying he hated her.

Other clips show him allegedly screaming behind doors, yelling at his kids to “shut up,” and dramatically leaving their home, refusing to care for his little ones.

A heartbreaking video Catherine shared showed one of her daughters crying that she “didn’t want to hang out with that crazy guy.”

She claimed in her Facebook post that Allan made a false 911 call, claiming she was “capable of ‘killing’ him or my own children.”

He allegedly filmed her being questioned by police, who ultimately failed to arrest her after they “realized he was lying,” she claimed.

In the email he sent on March 19, he listed the ruinous sum of money he said she forced him to spend out of the love of his children, saying “you should be really proud of decimating me financially.” and the children’

Catherine and Allan were involved in a four-year battle over custody of their daughters

The custody battle in Westchester has continued since 2019, the data shows.

In 2022, Catherine was fired from her job as special counsel to the Governor of New York after being arrested for violating a protection order. The charges were later dismissed.

In Catherine’s May 27 Facebook post, she also wrote about her third cancer diagnosis and said she wasn’t strong enough to undergo “grueling chemo, surgery and radiation” again.

She also said she kept her health secrets because her husband “would have tried so much harder to end my existence.”

DailyMail.com is working to confirm whether Catherine went through with her planned suicide, as she stated in her Facebook post.
