Deputies pronounced Cruz dead at the scene, while Salazar was transported to a local hospital with a weak pulse before being pronounced dead about an hour later.

Salazar has had two previous arrests for domestic violence and was found to be living in the country illegally with a stolen identity.
“This is truly a heartbreaking story,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said at a news conference on Tuesday.
“It’s sickening on the one hand, again if you look, you’ve got three small children involved in this, a 10-year-old, a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old who no longer have their mother. ‘
During the investigation, detectives found out that there were loud fights coming from the house
The family lived in the house for about five months before the murder-suicide
Officials say the family lived in the house for about five months and there had been no previous police calls to the house during that time.
But over the course of the investigation, detectives said they heard loud arguments coming from the house more than once.
They also found that Salazar had had two previous arrests for domestic violence involving his wife – including one while pregnant in 2016.
According to the police report, he had been in the country illegally and had taken the name Albertico Garza, a US resident whose truck and ID had been stolen in Texas years ago.
The 10-year-old boy is now in his father’s custody, authorities say, while the younger children are being cared for by their maternal grandmother.
“The children will need a lot of love and support as they process this tragedy today and for the rest of their lives,” Chitwood tweeted. “I’m so sorry for their pain.”
