A Christmas Eve horror unfolded when a couple was found shot to death in a murder-suicide in Houston, Texas, with their three young daughters witnessing the shooting.

The female victim, 34, and the male suspect, 43, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds in their family home on Christmas Day.

None of their names have been released.

Houston police responded to a shooting call at 4822 Grasilla Street on Monday around 10:15 p.m. and found the gruesome scene. The couple's children – ages six, nine and 14 – were in the house at the time police believed it was a murder-suicide.

Responding officers found the man and woman upstairs in a bedroom and learned they were husband and wife.

The female victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while the male suspect suffered one gunshot wound, authorities said. Investigators say they believe the man shot and killed his wife.

One of their three daughters reported hearing her parents arguing before several gunshots were fired. None of the children were injured.

“According to the current information we have, it appears to be a murder-suicide at this time,” Houston Police Lt. JP Horelica said.

'It will be investigated, just like any murder. “We will do a thorough job to make sure everything is as it seems,” he said VOS26.

It is unclear what led to the Christmas row that turned fatal.

Homicide detectives were on scene for several hours to make sure it happened as the child described: I LOVE reported.

Investigators also said there was a gun in the home.

The three children are currently staying with relatives until a permanent home is available.

“The identities of the female victim, 34, and the male suspect, 43, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences,” Houston police said in a statement.

“The incident is believed to be a murder-suicide pending the results of autopsies on the man and woman,” the statement read.

“At this time we have no information that says otherwise,” Horelica said.
