Huon Valley Seafoods collapse: Tasmanian company in liquidation

In Tasmania, a fishing giant has collapsed, leaving customers shocked.

Huon Valley Seafoods, located in Huonville in the southeast of the island, has been liquidated.

The company not only buys and processes seafood, but also distributes and exports it.

Louisa Sijabat was appointed as liquidator on July 24.

She told 7News that the company’s “business has declined in recent years.”

She said the company had been sold to investors in Melbourne, but the company’s former owners had fallen out with the new directors.

The Huon Valley Seafoods website has since been taken down.

Customers were gutted to see the company go under.

“Very sad now that the company is going bankrupt. The seafood was great and fresh,” said someone.
