Hunter’s lonely holiday: First son meets with his wife and lawyer in California as Biden family heads to St. Croix to ring in the new year

Hunter Biden missed his family's tropical getaway. He spent the holiday season in California and sat down for a meeting with his attorney amid mounting legal troubles.

The First Son, 53, is in the Golden State at a time when he is facing a slew of tax-related charges in California over allegations that he failed to pay more than $1.4 million to the IRS .

While Hunter faces more charges, including lying about his crack cocaine addiction to buy a gun, he was seen visiting the home of his attorney Kevin Morris on Wednesday.

However, the troubled businessman appeared to find time to unwind as he enjoyed a lunch date with his wife, documentary filmmaker and activist Melissa Cohen.

While Hunter remained in the United States, President Biden led members of the First Family, including First Lady Jill Biden and granddaughter Natalie (seen together) off Air Force One, as they vacationed on the Caribbean island of St Croix.

Hunter disembarked in California while other members of the First Family escaped from Washington to the Caribbean island of St. Croix.

It is unclear why Hunter remained in the United States when his family left for the Virgin Islands, with the 53-year-old possibly avoiding leaving the US due to his legal troubles.

On Wednesday, President Biden was seen departing Air Force One on Wednesday afternoon with the First Lady and his 19-year-old granddaughter Natalie, the daughter of their late son Beau.

The family will also stay rent-free at the home of Democratic megadonors Bill and Connie Neville, who made their fortunes in the tech industry and attended the White House state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

As Biden takes a break ahead of a politically tumultuous year, Hunter and Cohen were spotted sharing lunch together in their home country.

The couple, who met in 2019 and tied the knot after knowing each other for just six days, dined at Cholada Thai Beach Restaurant for almost an hour.

Hunter wore sunglasses and a baseball cap for an understated look, while his wife wore a gray sweater and was escorted out of the restaurant by Secret Service in a large black SUV.

Earlier in the day, Hunter visited his lawyer's home in California, where Morris was caught in exclusive DailyMail.com footage smoking a hookah from his balcony while Hunter was present earlier this year.

Morris is known as Hunter's “sugar brother” and reportedly paid $2.8 million of the First Son's tax debts on his behalf.

Morris, 60, was a Hollywood attorney known for running a prestigious law firm that took on some of the most high-profile cases and clients in the industry.

He famously negotiated a pair of contracts totaling $1.4 billion for the makers of the satirical cartoon South Park, whom he met at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival.

Their friendship blossomed and he later won a Tony Award as producer of their blockbuster musical The Book of Mormon.

Throughout his career, Morris has represented several Hollywood elites, including Courtney Cox and Mathew McConaughey, as well as TV executive Doug Herzog and producer Tom Lassally.

“I don't really need a lawyer,” Cox told Variety at a launch party for one of the lawyer's books in 2014: “But when I do, I turn to Kevin.”

Morris is also said to have engaged in clandestine ploys to extract information from Hunter's enemies.

The lawyer was accused of lying to get onto the film set of My Son Hunter, a film intended to show Biden in the worst possible light with stories about his drug use, partying and allegedly corrupt business deals.
