Hunter Biden FINALLY sets date for deposition in impeachment probe: President’s son will be grilled on February 28 after Republicans pushed off contempt of Congress charge so he would sit down for interview
Republicans have announced that Hunter Biden will appear for a closed-door deposition on February 28, following weeks of drama as the GOP’s impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden gathers pace.
“Hunter Biden will appear before our committees for deposition on February 28, 2024. His statement will come after several interviews with Biden family members and associates. We look forward to Hunter Biden’s testimony,” Presidents James Comer and Jim Jordan announced.
Earlier this week, they postponed a procedural vote to advance Hunter Biden’s contempt of Congress impeachment while negotiations continue behind closed doors.
Hunter Biden’s committee staff and lawyers were busy planning his appearance after he defied a congressional subpoena in a spectacular PR “stunt” on the Hill last month.
The full House vote on Hunter’s contempt of Congress charges was expected this week but has now been postponed indefinitely.
Top Republicans also announced that several members of the Biden family and close associates will testify in the coming weeks, including: Mervyn Yan and Rob Walker, Eric Schwerin and Joey Langston and Tony Bobulinski.

Hunter defied a subpoena last month he was asked to make a closed-door statement as part of the Republican Party’s impeachment inquiry into whether President Joe Biden had ties to or benefited from his son’s shady business deals.
Instead of standing up for the required testimony, Hunter appeared outside the Capitol to deliver a dramatic tirade criticizing “shameless” Republicans while saying he would only testify in a public forum.
Weeks later, during a hearing marking his contempt of Congress indictment, Hunter arrived on Capitol Hill in a shocked TV appearance, in flagrant violation of their subpoenas.
The president’s troubled son, 53, performed the spectacular stunt and listened as Republican Rep. Nancy Mace said he “had no b***s” and “should be in jail” for refusing to speak behind closed doors to make a statement.
About 17 minutes later, he got up and walked outside when Marjorie Taylor Greene began questioning him about his business deals and the ongoing impeachment inquiry against his father Joe.
After storming out, he was met with a barrage of questions, including what kind of crack he smokes and why he put his father Joe on speakerphone more than 20 times to talk to his business friends.

Hunter caused a circus as cameras and reporters surrounded him for the very brief appearance amid the scandal over his shady foreign affairs deals.
Last week it was revealed that Hunter is filming a top-secret documentary to set the record straight about his battle with crack cocaine addiction and his financial problems.
Republicans began ripping Hunter for the “made-for-TV publicity stunt.”

GOP Whip Tom Emmer said “another day, another ridiculous PR stunt from Hunter Biden.”
“If this is the Biden family’s strategy to distract the American people from their disturbing pattern of corruption, it is futile.”
Hunter walked into the committee hearing room with his attorneys Abbe Lowell and Kevin Morris and took a seat in the front row, silently taking in the chaos that then unfolded before him as lawmakers grappled with the remarkable turn of events.
The top Democrat on the committee, Jamie Raskin, seemed aware that the president’s son would disrupt proceedings with his shocking entrance.
“Who bribed Hunter Biden to be here today?” asked Rep. Nancy Mace, RS.C. “You are the epitome of white privilege coming into the Oversight Committee, spitting in our faces, and ignoring a congressional subpoena to be impeached.”
“You don’t have any b***s to come here,” she spat. “I think Hunter Biden should be arrested here and now,” Mace continued. ‘I’m looking at you!’
“I believe that Hunter Biden should be completely despised. I think he should be taken to prison right now!’ the excited Republican congresswoman noted.
Democrat Jared Moskowitz — who also appeared to be aware of the stunt — asked for a show of hands from lawmakers who wanted to hear from Hunter as he stood before them.
He put Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., on the spot, challenging him to question Hunter since he came to the public hearing and threatening to make the contempt vote “bipartisan.”
“Listen, I’m going to make this twofold. I’m voting for Hunter contempt today. You can get my vote. You can have my vote, but I want you to show the American people that you mean business.” Moskowitz taunted before filing subpoenas for Republicans who did not comply with the Commission’s Jan. 6 requests for testimony.

Hunter walked into the committee hearing room with his attorneys Abbe Lowell and Kevin Morris and took a seat in the front row, silently taking in the chaos that then unfolded before him as lawmakers grappled with the remarkable turn of events.
Hunter then stormed out of the hearing room after Moskowitz’s comments, immediately after Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., began speaking less than 30 minutes into the hearing.
“I think it’s clear and obvious to anyone watching this hearing today that Hunter Biden is terrified of strong conservative Republican women because he can’t even face my words when I was about to talk to him,” Greene said.
“What a coward,” she exclaimed.
Republicans say his “obstruction” of their impeachment inquiry has forced them to take the president’s son to court to force his cooperation — or face a year in prison.
