New York City police are searching for a fugitive killer after a resident found a woman’s body wrapped in a garbage bag on a busy sidewalk last week.

NYPD officers responded to a report of a suspicious package in the trash at 27th Street and Third Avenue in Kips Bay on the East Side of Manhattan around 5 p.m. Friday.

“Emergency services attended the scene and pronounced the victims dead at the scene,” the department told DailyMail.com.

‘Based on an ongoing investigation, the Office of the Chief Coroner has determined that the individual found was a 31-year-old female who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. On July 7, 2024, this was ruled a homicide.

“No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”

Rian Robbins, the passerby who made the unfortunate discovery, said she was suspicious of the package because there were flies circling around it.

“I walked past it and turned around and there were flies all over the place. And I saw what looked like a rib cage,” Rian Robbins said benNewYork Metro.

They were cleaning out the building, so I thought, maybe it’s something old that they threw away.’

Robbins said the body was on what looked like a cart. “It was on a rolling cart that was tied to the thing,” Robbins said.

“It was large and bloated, as if it had been in the water.”

Officials told amNewYork Metro that they suspect the body had been on the street for some time, as other residents had reported a stench in the area.

Shocked bystanders in a nearby building also filmed disturbing footage of detectives cutting open the body bag in the street.
