Hundreds of Amazon workers are calling on the CEO to reverse the return-to-the-office policy

More than 500 Amazon employees have reportedly signed a petition demanding that AWS CEO Matt Garman reverse his decision to mandate a five-day office week as part of the cloud computing giant’s return to the office.

The letter, seen by Reutersdetails Garman’s unsupported claims that most employees subscribe to the company’s RTO policy.

In the letter, employees express concerns about the logistical challenges associated with the stricter policies, including difficulties traveling long distances to work and difficulties arranging childcare.

This is what an Amazon spokesperson said Reuters It offers commuting benefits, elderly care and subsidized parking rates, among other benefits, to help employees return to the office more permanently. The current requirements are similar to those of most technology giants: Amazon’s office workers currently have to be in the office three days a week.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has already been vocal about his support for office work, citing productivity benefits and the added support for local economies that travel brings. A company-wide effort earlier this year warned employees against returning to the office, relocating or voluntarily resigning.

“It’s past the time to disagree and commit… and if you can’t disagree and commit, I understand that too, but at Amazon it probably won’t work because we’ll be back at least three hours go to the office.” days a week,” Jassy had said.

The e-commerce Leader isn’t the only company fighting harder for in-person work, but its employees are among the most vocal, signing petitions and organizing strikes.
