Hume Highway accident in Victoria: Four people killed near Chiltern

Four people have been killed in a horrific accident on the Hume Highway in northeastern Victoria.
A B-twin truck and a car collided at around 10.30am on Thursday at the intersection of Wenkes Rd in Chiltern, 22 miles southwest of Albury near the NSW border.
Tragically, all four persons who were in the car succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident and died on the spot.
The 30-year-old male truck driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services were photographed at the scene of the accident in Chiltern on Thursday
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are on their way to the scene of the accident. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
Northbound traffic on Hume Highway is closed from Springhurst Road.
Chiltern, a small historic town three hours north of Melbourne, is home to approximately 1580 people.
The city was built in the 1850s during the gold rush era, but now counts agriculture, flour and grain production among its major industries.
