Hugh Jackman’s new girlfriend Sutton Foster shared foreshadowing post about the actor years before ‘affair’ rumours, it’s revealed – after his ‘cheating’ comment resurfaced
Sutton Foster made a rather foreshadowing post about her new boyfriend Hugh Jackman years before the couple became embroiled in ‘affair’ rumours, it has been revealed.
The stage actors decided to make their romance public this week after years of speculation – after they both split from their respective spouses.
Hugh, 56, and Sutton, 49, first met in 2008 when the actress starred in the musical Shrek, but they became close when they were cast opposite each other in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man.
But way back in 2019, Sutton predicted her future romance with the Australian star when she shared the announcement of their joint casting for the 1962 show.
Referencing one of the songs from the musical, Sutton reshared the post with the message: ‘Til there was Hugh.’
It came hours after one of Hugh’s posts also resurfaced, in which he awkwardly referred to “cheating.”

Hugh took to X and then Twitter in 2015 to share a photo of himself sitting on a table staring at a plate of cookies.
Hugh shrugged off Shakespeare by musing ‘to cheat or not to cheat – that is the question?!’ – referring to a ‘cheat’ meal when they are on a diet.
But social media users were quick to comment on the post in light of his new relationship with Sutton.
Hugh was married to his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 68, for 27 years before they announced their shock split in September 2023.
Rumors soon followed that Hugh had begun a relationship with his The Music Man co-star, who was married to her ex-husband Ted Griffin when the pair first began workshopping the Broadway production in 2020.
When Hugh’s ‘cheating’ resurfaced this week, people compared it to the widespread ‘affair’ rumors surrounding the end of his long-term marriage – joking about the ‘aging poorly’ post.
Resharing the 2015 post, fans wrote: ‘Unfortunately this just became the funniest tweet in history’;
‘Men’s jokes are always hidden truths’; ‘I’m not sure what I’m going to eat tomorrow, but Hugh knew what he was going to be doing in ten years’;

‘Oh wow, this has really aged well’; ‘Put it in the hall of fame’; ‘Straight theater men for no reason on a random Tuesday:’;
‘This has NOT aged well’; “Well, it took ten years, but he finally answered the question.”
Sutton and Hugh confirmed they are now an item on Monday night after they were spotted holding hands at a dinner party in Santa Monica, California.
After months of being ‘plagued by suspicions’, Furness can now move on, according to insiders, who claim the footage confirmed her fears were justified.
“Deborra-Lee feels a sense of relief to be honest with you,” a source told DailyMail.com exclusively.
‘She is plagued by suspicions. She was told it wasn’t true, and that they were nothing more than good friends working together. But something in her heart told her this wasn’t true.
‘She trusted her intuition and her intuition was right. She finally feels at ease after receiving confirmation that her fears and suspicions were justified. She can now completely close this chapter and move on.”

The insider added: ‘She has no more say in her ex-husband and his good friend Sutton.’
Deborra-Lee and Hugh announced the end of their marriage in a shock statement in September 2023, telling fans they were ‘changing’ and as a result had decided to ‘separate to pursue our individual growth’ .
Foster filed for divorce from her estranged husband in October after 10 years of marriage. They share daughter Emily, seven.
A month later, Deborra-Lee raised eyebrows when her private Instagram account “liked” a video from gossip blogger Tasha Lustig, which claimed Hugh “ran off with the mistress” and planned a “soft launch” of his new relationship to test the reaction.
The claim was given more credence by Deborra-Lee’s friend Amanda de Cadenet, who responded to the same post: ‘You’re in lockstep with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to get her ass ripped off, fyi!”
