Hugh Jackman’s estranged wife Deborra-Lee Furness breaks her silence following their shock split after 27 years of marriage

Deborra-Lee Furness has spoken out for the first time since her split from Hugh Jackman after answering a cold call from Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson.

The radio duo accidentally called the Australian actress live on air on Tuesday and were shocked when she answered the phone.

“We actually called you by accident, it’s ridiculous. Seriously, this is not a stabbing,” Kyle told Deborra-Lee.

“We didn’t mean to actually call you. But now that you’re here, we won’t go into it. We love you, we hope you are doing well.”

‘Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. You’re very sweet,” she replied.

‘Thanks guys. I really appreciate it,” Deborra-Lee said before hanging up.

Deborra-Lee and Hugh recently shocked their fans when they announced they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage.

“We are blessed to have had a beautiful, loving marriage together for almost three decades. Our journey is now changing and we have decided to part ways to pursue our individual growth,” the couple said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE earlier this month.

‘Our family is and will remain our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family goes through this transition.”

Last April, the couple celebrated their anniversary and Jackman posted a sparkling tribute to his wife on Instagram.

“I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 years! I love you so much,” the actor wrote in his caption.

‘Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your smile, your spirit, generosity, humor, boldness, courage and loyalty are an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart,” he shared in the heartfelt post.

Although undoubtedly better known than his wife, Deborra-Lee had already shot twenty films by the time she and Jackman met, starring as a prison psychologist and brain-damaged convict in ABC TV’s ten-episode series Correlli in 1995 .

Deborra-Lee recently played Jill Bailey opposite Eric Bana in Robert Connolly’s sequel Force of Nature: The Dry 2, which was released in Australian and New Zealand theaters on August 24.

In February, Hugh told Smooth Radio: ‘I think honesty, intimacy and making time (are the secrets to a long and happy marriage). You can’t just assume that everything will go well. You have to make time.’
